Think of it this way: Now you have the experience, and title for your new song, "Loose with the Truth"

Seriously, as others have said, this is common. Sounds like they needed a guitarist fast for the rehearsal and used you. I got out of bands early because of the flakiness. Musicians don't have the negative connotation for being flakes for nothing (speaking as a musician).

Lastly, isn't it great you had a place to vent to people who can really empathize with you? :D
Thanks,

Thanks everyone for your kind words of support. It means a lot.. truly.
BTW, I was already working on a song or two about the ordeal, as suggested by Stephen Davis.

I also love the jokes about "when I saw drummer/bandleader, I knew it wasn't going to end well". Gave me a good laugh. Thanks.

All the best,
Tim

Hey dude, been there many a time. I auditioned for a big touring artist, $600/day world tour sized thing and got the same "not enough rehearsal time story" lol.

I also realised recently a collaborator I've been working with for a while basically lies about everything. Same as your guy, making up stories. Nothing you can ever prove without confrontation. I'm out about $1000 because of his tales.

Anyway I'm looking at the whole thing as a learning experience. Gotta be careful with liars!!
