I check out the reviews online and then see if a shop near you has a pair and take a CD in with some different genres of music to see what if you like the way they sound. Probably burn some material you're working on and see what it sounds like compared to what you have now.Blessings.

Hi,Prez give you a right advice. You should also check the frequency response diagram: The most flat will be the best. My monitors are a lot cheaper but the frequency response/range is great. My ears are very used to my monitors and I think it would be a little hard to change them. Not because I think they are the best, it’s because I’m very used to them. Good luck!

Jean,I'd recommend trying to hear a pair before you take the leap. A frequency response chart won't do you much good unless your room is exactly like the room that the monitors were tested in (I doubt you have an anechoic chamber!!). The monitors will be highly influenced by your room and their placement in it. Some sellers will give you 30 or 45 days to return something. I'd recommend taking advantage of this even with the hassle of shipping them back because you don't want to buy a pair of speakers that don't end up working for you. If you buy a box of crappy guitar picks, it's not worth shipping them back but a pair of speakers is a sizeable investment, not only financially but in time to learn them and get your room adjusted correctly once they're there. All that being said, I've heard good things about these monitors. I like the two woofers idea and having the tweeter in the middle like that is a nice idea too. But, ideas are great and looks are cool, but if these speakers don't sound great to YOUR ears, then they're not great, no matter what the frequency response graph looks like.Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Thanks a lot guys for these advices. "Some sellers will give you 30 or 45 days to return something." Excellent suggestion Mazz, I'll try this.

Mazz - I agree completely about the influence of the room, but the speakers are the speakers - you don't want a lumpy response. It seems unlikely that we disagree about that, but the reason for my comment is that you'll find people saying that it's the room that's important, not the speakers. I'd rather have great speakers in an okay room than shite speakers in a great room!Having said that, you don't see very many frequency response charts that don't look flat, so they're not usually worth a whole lot. All you have to do is zoom out far enough to make the line look straight. The same applies to mics, by the way - the graphs tend to look very flat.

Nick,Yes, I'd love to have some Adam P22As in my slightly treated spare bedroom! (I love the sound of ribbon tweeters!)And I guess the accuracy of the freq. response graphs are only as good as who's fudging the numbers!Take care,Mazz
