I'll collab in just about any style though. What style do you do? Do you perform? Studio work? Talk with as many Taxi members as possible too. They will give you great feedback. Bounce ideas you have off of their ears. This is a very supportive community for writing music.dr

Only two. I find that when i open a track and get ready to upload, I want to tweak it more. I am very critical of myself. Both submissions I've done I haven't been happy with. My wife just had me submit them anyway. One was forwarded, one was returned. I am thoroughly impressed with the Taxi Screeners. They are spot on with their evaluation of the songs and the feedback is everything you need to get the song up to snuff. The hip hop tracks I write are more like... Aesop Rock, Outkast, Blackalicious, Atmosphere, E & A, Dead Prez. I don't get inspired by writing that. It's usually because someone I know wants a track or I get sidetracked while writing a song. I definately consider that an influence when writing the Chill tracks. That reminds me.... back to work, submission deadlines.dr

Hi Doc,I have 3 different M-Audio ProSamples libraries, 2 of them have no restrictions on use but another one (the Jim Chamberlain drum loops) specifically restrict the use of those loops in library music so you really have to check the agreement for the specific library you are using.Quote:With most soundware the you have to agree with the licensing before you open the package and/or install the content, so it's usually spelled out pretty clearly.I guess M-Audio was "smart" enough to put the license agreement inside the CD case and Musician's Friend does not allow returns on opened CDs... so I got stuck with this one. These days you can find the license agreement for most products online, I highly recommend that before purchasing.HTHAntonio

You should be legally able to return the CDs. If you have no way of knowing the full contract terms until you open the package, you must have the right to a refund if those terms turn out to be disagreeable.

Just to update, I spoke with someone from sales at M-Audio about their 'limited license of sound samples' for some clarification. This is what was established...You are licensed to use the samples on the discs for your original music. You may use the samples from the disc modified or unmodified as long as you have them as part of your original music. You may consider them your samples ONLY for creating original music.Your original song (with samples) CAN be used in songs that you submit to TAXI (and music libraries). You may not call their samples 'your' music. You may not use their samples, modified or unmodified, to create another sample disc.Antonio, I asked specifically about the Jimmy Chamberlain disc (as I have this as well). You may use it in your songs. Enjoy, be creative. This information is specifically for M-Audio sample discs. Most manufacturers have a similar policy though. If you are concerned about the licensing of your samples, call the manufacturer. M-Audio was friendly and very helpful.dr

I have used those samples on a tune I did for an short indie film, I just haven't used them for any music I've signed to libraries based on the text on their license. Good to have them as an option in the future, though. Thanks!Antonio
