Major Ad Cue 15 sec

Post by delagarzamusic » Mon May 21, 2012 4:25 pm

Hello, Hows this cue for the following listing?
thank's

(Fixed?)
http://soundcloud.com/juliodelagarza/sm ... ns-no-kick

LEADING AD AGENCY needs CUTE and FUN INSTRUMENTALS for a national TV ad for a yummy food product. Quoting the agency, "Looking for SIMPLE and BRIGHT instrumental music." I-M-P-O-R-T-A-N-T: They want :15 (fifteen second) tracks that begin PLAYFUL and PIQUE the viewer's CURIOSITY ("What IS this product?") and then "RESOLVE" or CHANGE at around the :10 mark into something more LUXURIOUS or CAREFREE. This will be where the product is REVEALED in the commercial. (Keep in mind that you may have to adjust the timing if your music is chosen.) Overall, they want a HAPPY, BRIGHT, and PLEASANT sound that doesn't conflict with a voice over. MID-TEMPO pieces will likely work best. Music should sound CURRENT and CONTEMPORARY. Heavy sounds and minor key signatures will NOT work for this. Music that is too childlike will also NOT work. Quoting the agency again, "Tracks should have SPARSE INSTRUMENTATION but something INTERESTING. Instruments like AUTOHARP, MANDOLIN, WHISTLING, HUMMING, LA LA LA's, MARIMBA might work... You get the idea. FUN and LIGHT." Obviously they DON'T want tracks with ALL of those instruments. And they're NOT looking for outright folk or ethnic. You don't have to include ANY of those elements as long as you nail the VIBE. But whatever instruments you use MUST sound real and authentic. NO SAMPLES of other songs or artists can be incorporated into your track. As always, do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artist or their song in any way, shape, or form! The ESTIMATED fee for this project is $10,000. This is DIRECT-to-AGENCY so YOU WILL KEEP 100% of the ultimate fee. You must own or control 100% of the Master and Composition rights to submit for this listing. Please submit one to three songs online. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS by a person Hand-Picked by the Agency. ALL submissions must be received no later than 9:30AM PDT, Tuesday, May 22, 2012. TAXI #Y120522IN

good feel.

in my opinion the (bass drum?) may be a bit heavy.

overall, though it's got a nice vibe.

p.s. you're 2 seconds long :o

It's very nice... :D This is a very tough listing.

I'm not sure if at 10 seconds you switched to music that would fit "something more LUXURIOUS or CAREFREE". The word "Luxurious" makes me think they want something more for those 5 seconds.

It does run just a drop long (at 00:17), though sometimes you can get away with that if it's the ring out that goes over. However, I'm not sure how picky they will be here and getting it down to close to 15 seconds with ring out is the safest way to go.

Good luck!
:) Casey

im going to try to soften the kick drum a little bit
and try to fix the lenght to 15 sec.
also try a different ending. im not sure how to make it sound luxurious but im going to try something else see what happens..

thank's for the feedback..

i'll post the track again with the fixes..

My suggestion would be to flip flop it. Bring the kick and full instrumentation in at 10 seconds and do a buttoned ending (ta da!!). It seems to me that they are looking for something very sparse in the beginning and then it opens up at the end. That's how I approached it. To me, "luxurious" meant kind of a full band thing. I dunno, it's anybody's guess on these listings.
I like your mandolin line and the recording quality is excellent.
Just my take.

Like it very much. Cool groove. Nice work.

I agree with Paul, I would bring in the kick at the :10 mark for the ending.

Good luck.

cheers -

Nice skippy groove! I think for this ad no bass drum is closer...just because it listed something about not being heavy and keeping it bright. But who knows!? Just my only thought. :D Great work! Good luck!
