Hey there everyone... Just my 2cents... But - I think that it's an ok program - just a bit overpriced, and really what it does is something you could do mostly on your own. I do like the word-phrase helps... I just find it a bit overpriced... Mark - Eine Klavier

Well, I finally decided to make the purchase. I downloaded the trial, and it seems to be a good fit for me. It did seem a little overpriced to me too Mark. I got it for $200. But the functions I like best are the word-phrase function, rhyming filters, and built in audio recorder for melody ideas. And the fact that it keeps everything together and you don't have to worry about spreadsheets, etc....anyway I bought it.I've been using it a lot. I'm pretty happy.

Cool stuff Andy, like i said, ive found it to be a great utility, but what continues to be the key thing for me is having a properly organized database to grow my catalog and have all the notes/song information other than the project files in one conveniant place. Im a sucker for efficiency! ;-) Cheers

It's the same deal where ever you go. $90 off. They just jack the price up to make it look like a huge discount.

As an organizational tool Masterwriter is exceptional. It is true you could sit there with your rhyming dictionary, theasaurus, dictionary, etc. But have you ever tried to do that? It's a pain in the butt. I love being able to sketch out a lyric, throw a melody into the recorder, and jump into a different song when I get stuck just by clicking a tab.I started using Masterwriter with version 1 and got a great deal on the upgrade to version 2.It is my primary lyric and idea generation device. I could go back to notepads and having my ideas scattered all over scraps of paper, but that would be like trading my car in for a horse and buggy.Yes it's expensive, but for me it has paid for itself ten times over.Best,Cisko

I absolutely love my Master Writer. It was exactly what I needed. It's great. I can organize my songs by worktape and demo and I can attach both versions to the file. No more "where did I save that?"And Cisko I agree, the best part is having all those resources a click away...as oppossed to a couple of dozen or maybe hundred page flips. The MAIN thing that this software has helped me with is focus. Instead of getting hung up on a line I can put something in there temporarily with a click without stopping my flow.Mine has already paid for itself in just a couple months IMOAndy

I got it as part of the stuff I won in some contest and I'm embarrassed to say that I've never used it. I'm not creatively stimulated by computer programs, unfortunately, and still write using a legal pad and pen - or note paper and pencil - or scratch pads and Sharpies...Claire

Thank God Claire!!I thought I was the only one left. I do type my lyrics into word and organize them that way.I keep a pad in the truck to write notes on.My co-writer carries around the same writers book hes had for 25 years. I still have notebooks from 1990. I organize my notebooks in a file cabinet.I like writing at the pc since I can move whole verses and phrases around at will and I havent had the need (yet) to consult ryhming dictionaries. There are hundreds of them online if the need arises. I just cant justify the expense for a writing software.IM just old fashioned that way I guess.M~

I guess everybody has there own way of doing it. I say do whatever lets the juices flow. I'm definitely not connected to Master Writer by the hip, I just wrote two songs last week without it on a notepad....but I went right in there and typed it up nice and recorded a worktape. All that being sad...I'm willing to wager I'm from a younger generation than both Claire and Matt and so using a computer is almost assumed to me. Although I didn't get a "myspace" until around Christmas LOL go figureBottomline...I think it's not so much the software's features as much as it is a structure for my ADD tendencies Andy
