There is a low, growly element in yours that is more prominent than it should be, I think, to match the refs. The refs tend to be lighter, more ethereal. "Circle of Grace" does have a bit of a low growly element, but less frequent, not as loud, and more towards the end. This is the result of a pretty quick listen, so take it for what it's worth.

Hello Wendy!

The biggest thing about meditation music for me is the overall sense of calm and wide open spaces. Gesture is a great example of this.
I agree with Michael that the examples tend to be on the lighter 'breathier' side for the main instruments with only selective low end.

With my eyes closed, I felt more of a sense of unease with yours. Your primary drone instrument has a wash on it that slightly detunes it - for me it's too much. (It's a great trick for tension cues)

Also, there is a fairly prominent fret noise that makes it hard to find that 'peace'

At about :54 - the transition between phrases sounds like an error - it's not bad, but the sort of thing that is distracting in a meditation cue... All through, any 'breaths' where there is a stop of instruments (1:14 is another example) needs to sound very intentional. (not dissimilar to meditation breathing :)

Lastly, the 'wash' seems a bit 'bass heavy' - try and reduce the low frequencies on the effect returns so that it's a bit less rumbly.

I think it's a great start but just needs a bit of production. As always, just my opinion, but I hope it helps! :)

Hi Wendy, I like this track! It just sounds to me more like an introduction or transitional track on an alternative rock album, so I'm not sure it fits this listing because there's more of a darkness to it. I think it would create good contrast with another lighter song on an album. It really makes me think about and imagine the room that it was recorded in. As far as mixing goes, the bell might benefit from some harsh frequency reduction. Best of luck with the track!

Hi NMN,

I will take your advice and use it as an album intro. :)

I'm glad you liked it, thanks.

Best!

Wendy
