Re: microphones
Like Ern said, play around with positioning. This recording ("Go To Man") was made with AKG C414B-XLII about 4 ft. directly in front of the sound hole and just a bit higher than the player's head. An SM57 was on-axis about 4 inches from the 10th fret or so.The two feeds were spread left and right, but not 100%, more like 75%.Because the guitar "creeps in softly", listen well into the track, around the time of the vocal entry, and you'll hear it better. Toward the middle there's a verse of just guitar. The player's style is chopping with the fingers. All of that is caught, and the two mic spread gives a good spacial image with some nice warmth.

Re: microphones
+ 1 for the AT 4040 or ECM 87The AT is brilliant on acoustic guitar. Its my go to mic for clean, rich, focused, natural AG.If you are looking for something to compliment your AKG for use with stereo recording, both of these mics would be great and offer an airy high end, with nice reach, which will compliment the flatter response of the 414 - if you want to use that to pickup the body of the guitar tone, for example. The ECM 87 is cool. A little 'glassy', and the transients seem slightly more 'rounded' id say. There is a little more coloration to my ears. YMMV. There are a lot of little factors that will effect tones and stuff, such as pick + strings used/musicians technique/ PLACEMENT
etc. There are a number of bargain mics you can get that will be a great compliment to the AKG. Whatever your budget, in your situation, you wont go wrong with anything that has a bright presence, + smooth, detailed highs. A SDC might be a great addition. Have fun.~Jamie
