MIDI Controller Problem

I'm trying to determine if I have a faulty controller, or, perhaps just a faulty brain.I have an M-Audio Radium 49 MIDI controller (for now). I use Cubase SX 3, as well as Reason 3.0. I use a Presonus Firebox for an interface.I have followed a myriad of set-up advice in several tutorials as well as the information found in the books "Cubase SX for Macintosh and Windows: Visual QuickStart Guide" and "Reason for Macintosh and Windows: Visual QuickStart Guide".Problem: my controller works with Reason, but it is not recognized by Cubase SX. No sound.The drivers are okay. I have gone over every conceivable in/out configuration in Cubase...no go.One thing I've noticed, I also cannot find "M-Audio Radium 49" among the possible controllers listed within Cubase's list of controllers...in fact, there are no M-Audio instruments listed by default, although just about every other brand IS listed.Anyone have a clue for me?Thanks,Mark

Judging by the silence, maybe it is a controller issue and not my brain. I suppose that could be construed as good news...

either posting or selecting generic midi controller from the drop down menu-sometimes if you open 1 behind the other the cpu doesn't fully close out reason for example and almost acts like its in rewire mode. oh yeah and make sure that you've selected which instrument you wat your midi to play because I remember hitting keys & watching the volume bar light go green but never getting any sound-until I realized that I can't get sound from what I didn't select...lol! trial & error is so simple yet difficult @ the same time

It could be that Reason is not "giving up" control of the controller. I believe in Reason you have the option in the controllers preference to "use in Reason". If you are running Reason as a Rewire slave to Cubase, you might try un-checing the "use in Reason" box.The only limitation to this is you'll have to play Reason sounds from Cubase via MIDI tracks via Rewire (I'm assuming you know how to do that). Then if you want to use Reason by itself, you'd have to go back in and re-check the preference.Just some ideas.Mazz

Hey, it's a Lazarus Thread! Actually I am pretty sure at this point that it is actually a problem with the chipset in my firewire port. The Presonus Firebox I use has been known to be incompatible with several firewire chipsets, and recommends using those made by Texas Instruments. Even in Reason, I would experience a full drop out after a minute or so, every time. So I just set aside the keyboard for awhile until I replace the port...Siig makes them with TI chipsets and I'm hoping that will do the trick.Thanks for the extra input! -Mark
