am building a new computer for sonar and my plugins...but i want to use my old computer for gigastudio and maybe a stand alone east west string vst.... and im trying to picture how this will work...like how will i be able to actually see the gigastudio or string program on the second computer while im working in sonar? will i need two monitors? and if im using wireless mouse and keyboard wont that conflict..or will i be able to share...or will i be comunicating over a network? thanks for any help...i will obviously need another sound card for the giga machine. if anyone has the patience to walk me through this , i would really appreciate it. im having a hard time picturing it in my head. i know i can do it , i just need some help.dave

Re: midi over lan?
Dave,I use Giga3 with Sonar 5 Producer...........it gets to be a little technical but can be done. Two monitors is the way to go if you want to look at your tracks on sonar at the same time having Giga opened.............you will need a VST wrapper for Sonar to see Giga.........a google search will bring up a few places that have wrappers.....one mouse will work with the right cabling (not quite sure about a wireless setup on the mouse).....This setup will help you to use less CPU on your new computer .....using Giga on a stand alone computer and wrapped as a VST uses much less CPU. and of course you will need a switch (somewhat like a router) that can be set up so that the two (or more) computers can see each other and send data back and forth......I hope this wasn't too technical.........but it works great for me....I have used this system for about two years now and have had only one crash....and I am sure it was from me and not the setup.Another method is "rewire" but I had problems with that type of setup in regards to Sonar and Giga3Happy Holidays.Regards,Dick

Re: midi over lan?
thanks for your help Dick but i finally got it all figured out...im going to use "midi over lan" and i found this cool utility called multiplicity that allows you to switch between monitors and computers just by moving your mouse to a designated corner of your screen , so no kvm switches..no monitor switches,, and no midi cables with the asscociated latency....i ordered all the parts for my new audio {sonar}computer and will be assembling next weekend.. yee ha...dave
