Midnight Rendezvous - Domestic Violence song

Post by che » Fri May 30, 2008 1:46 pm

Hey guys,We are submitting this song to the SHELTERS/DOMESTIC VIOLENCE listing. We are still working on recording it and finishing the music, but I thought I'd post the lyrics to see what you all think. Do you get what it's saying? I'm pretty sure that anyone who's fled to a shelter will get it, but just wondering if it's clear enough to everyone that someone was in an abusive situatiuon and needed to escape. I will post the finished version once it's done. It's a very catchy tune if I must say so myself Midnight RendezvousV1You looked at me all confident, those days I called it strong You said I could lean on you, cause life had left me wornNever saw it coming as the stage was being setTook a bow to the director, would be my first regretChorus: You say I’m runnin’ scared, but you’re scared I’m runnin’ freeAlmost had me believin’ that freedom’s not for meReaching in the darkness found a helping hand or twoFound my way to freedom on a midnight rendezvousV2Gave a lifetime of performances, smiling to the crowdAlmost convinced myself of the words I said out loudFacing the director, careful not to miss a cueCareful not to let the crowd see how much I feared youChorus: You say I’m runnin’ scared, but you’re scared I’m runnin’ freeAlmost had me believin’ that freedom’s not for meReaching in the darkness found a helping hand or twoFound my way to freedom on a midnight rendezvousV3I got so good at acting you never had a clueYou never saw it coming that I was leaving youDidn’t see the family pictures slip out earlier that dayAs every thing that mattered I just sneaked awayChangeKnew it was now or never to follow through the planDidn’t know if I would live to get this chance again Steel doors and a made-up mind got me through the nightWe awoke to freedom in the early morning lightChorus: You say I’m runnin’ scared, but you’re scared I’m runnin’ freeAlmost had me believin’ that freedom’s not for meReaching in the darkness found a helping hand or twoFound my way to freedom on a midnight rendezvousYou say I’m runnin’ scared, but you’re scared I’m runnin’ freeAlmost had me believin’ that freedom’s not for meReaching in the darkness found a helping hand or twoFound my way to freedom on a midnight rendezvousAdlib over top of last hookCouldn’t stay another day, ‘fraid you’d see it in my eyesCouldn’t even say goodbye, knew it wasn’t wise

Just posted you a long reply Che and my computer decided to pack in on me (having real problems at the moment). So, in a nut shell I said that this is a very good, well crafted lyric (IMO). I understand what you are saying although it could be a little out of my league. I like how you have approached the song. I would be interested in a listen, that way I would get a better feel.Could it be a little long? Then again you say the music is catchy, so maybe that will work.Best of luck and come back with the music!Short and sweet but if my PC cuts out again I risk throwing it over the balcony.Linzi

Thanks for responding Linzi. We saw the lisiting for this and mentioned it to my Mom in general discussion. She wrote this. It was longer, but we had to cut it down when it came to setting it to music. We struggled with the need to tell the whole story, but not making the song to long, ya know. Here's a rough version of what we have so far.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=trueWe have a pitch problem with the guitar, on the slides....leveling and V-vocaling that still need done for sure, and probably a few more things.......and please spare your PC for it knows not what it does I swear they have gremlins sometimes.
