Hi Forum fans!
My pitch on this listing
TAXI # S220307RB
This Company is searching for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that could be found on a playlist with the following references:
WARNING: Some of the following references have graphic and explicit lyrics. Listener discretion is advised.
"You Right" by Doja Cat & The Weeknd
"Coastin'" by Victoria Monét
"Guilty" by Sevyn Streeter, Chris Brown, & A$AP Ferg
Although the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this request.
Please send fresh R&B Instrumentals with soulful motifs, slick beats, and solid grooves. Instrumentation that's generally similar to the references will suit your submissions best. Your production and any virtual instruments or samples you use should be modern, high-quality, and cutting-edge. We recommend sticking with one mood per Instrumental so they remain cohesive.
Kind of inspired from ''Coastin''

Comments and ideas appreciated.
Keep it up
Many Thx

Re: Modern R&B S220307RB
Hey Pierre - what you've made is R&B from a much different era. Your track is more suited to a playlist with the likes of Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good" (1977) than it is suited to be on a playlist with the references. Old R&B like what you've made is so far removed from the R&B of today, that they're not really the same thing at all.
For starters, you'll want a much more hip-hop influenced drum beat happening. Ditch those acoustic drums! I hear flute every so often in modern R&B and Trap, but not sure I've heard much sax. That element alone is dating your song. Then as another purge, update your synths and get rid of those 70's chords!
I sure don't mean to sound harsh. If I were you, I'd still submit this, since you've come this far already. But my guess is the screener feedback will say "not contemporary".

Wise words from the legend Matt V here.
I have to ask though... did you listen to the reference tracks provided in the listing? You've got a nice track, but it is nowhere close to what was being asked for. I would not submit this, save the $5 for a gallon of gas.

But I guess i'm stuck in the '70s!
I don't own a car so, i'll put my 5$ on a few sax reeds!
Cheers
