I would like thoughts for submission. I did not write this song for this submission. This is a song that I wrote personally for myself initially but then I saw this and thought, Why Not?! I wrote and performed everything on this song, from lyrics and guitar/production.

The Listing is:

MODERN RAP ROCK SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a Music Licensing Company that specializes in music for content creators as well as TV shows and Film projects!

They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic wheelhouse of (but not limited to) the references below:

Please submit contemporary Rap/Hip-Hop Songs with great wordplay and compelling vocal deliveries, full of attitude. The productions of your Songs should have an obvious Rock sound and feel, on par with the acts listed above. Please be sure your overall sound is “gritty” and leans toward the Rap side of the Rock spectrum.

Although they didn’t ask for specific lyric themes, lyrics that avoid references to specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity could make your Songs more appealing.

I'm not experienced with this genre, so take with a grain or two..
The ref tracks are full of the 'rock' side of rap rock, a la Rage Against the Machine and that ilk.
The productions of your Songs should have an obvious Rock sound and feel, on par with the acts listed above
Your track has a definite stylistic vibe, but I don't think it has much in common with the ref tracks. In fact, I don't think I hear 808 subs on the ref tracks at all.

Wow, that's a cool track!! Usually I don't like this genre at all, but this one is really cool, especially the vocal!

But, I also agree with Alan: it's not raprock. I think it can be solved pretty easily though: just add a heavy guitar riff throughout the song. The guitar as it is now is too fragmented, sparse, and solo-ey; what it needs most (well, to get into the category!) is a steady wall of guitar sound. Doesn't even have to be very prominent in the mix, but needs to be there.

Edit - oh and please remove the intro... just a pain in the ears really.

Hi Rob,

I Love the anthemic musical approach you've taken with this and def more Rap than Rock as the listing asks for. Nice work! I Love the axe reference in the Lyric.. "got my first axe when I turned 18". Very cool Rock image for a lot of us life-long Rockers!!!

I wish I could hear more of your guitar playing rather than the 808's and the syth's you've added into the music. I'd bet you're a great guitarist but the guitar is so set far back in the mix, it's hard to hear. Except for that excellent lead in the middle!!! Great job on that!

Also..
The listing never asked but I would add acoustic drums rather than the synth drums you have here. The referenced drums seem to be more acoustic and not so electronic but I could be wrong. Just a suggestion.

Lyrics..
The lyrics are very appropriate for the genre (profanity included) but very personally specific to you, rather than to me as the listener.

Overall..
This is a great Anthemic Rap Rock Song leaning more toward Rap and IMO and has a great chance of being forwarded but I would try to be more generalized and Universal with Lyrics in the future.
