Good stuff William! I love the contrast between the verses and the chorus. The only thing I'm not sure about is the crash symbol panned left throughout the verses... but it might sound empty without it too. I have to hear it both ways to know.Cam

Hey Wta!Yeah, good stuff William! The crash cymbal is somewhat annoying all the way throughout. Maybe switch to some other sound(s) for the 2nd verses and then combine both for the 3rd just to break up the manotony? Perhaps use more than just that 1 cymbal. Perhaps a splash in there somewhere, or a china? Just ta' make it interesting, and as I've been told, "less predictable"? Just some suggestions. Good job though!I-468

Re: Modern Rock Song... Let It Rain
Heya Will!Good song, great hook, and fairly clean production... with a couple of caveats. But overall I really enjoyed this piece and can hear its potential!I'll concur with the others about the crash.... I think having something percussive is cool... but that's too big of a sound IMO. But really it could be anything with a percussive aspect, even a synth line if you find the right pad. In the chorus, I think as you go through each time you can make the overall sound bigger as well... and that's the overall comment I have too, as I didn't think the instrumentation built on itself as effectively as it could have, not changing up much at all from where it started. Even the drum pattern remained fairly similar between verse and chorus (if not exactly the same). Adding some variations in the progression of this song would really make it stand out IMO. I would love some big fat low end on this one too, along with maybe some unexpected instrumentation to fill it out. When listening to the chorus I immediately thought of bagpipes a la AC/DC, though that might be a little too obvious. This is another song of yours where I believe you could make the chorus as big as you want and get away with it.At the end, it seemed like the song just finally gave up... not necessarily a great end to a pretty cool song. These are all pretty small fixes in the scheme of things, as I think the overall content is pretty solid. I look forward to hearing how this song develops!

Cam, Iben and Zoom... I get ya on all point on all cylinders! I'm in phase 1 with this tune, got the framework together and now I want to get into fine tunning the instrumentation and do any rewrite on the lyric if needed. Great points and I'll have a new cut early next week! You guys are the best!

Re: Modern Rock Song... Let It Rain
Nice hypnotic music. It really drew me in and made me want to grab the bong and burn a couple!!Seriously. The chorus lift is really excellent, melody is great. Almost righteous in its delivery.I have a hard time with the words "I can" being repeated at the end and beginning of the verse lines. I understand the dramatic effect of this and its almost a Bowie thing but I think if you just sung it line by line with some emotional vocal inflection between the lines it would really stick in the head. Just "In the distance I can hear the pouring rain" BUT with a Bono kind of style. I like the almost whisper going to the big chorus. It really jumps out and kicks you in the gnads. Which only feels good if its music I guess. Also I hear a killer backing harmony over the chorus. Way in the back like outer space or something.Cant wait to hear this one develop.M~

Listening, this reminds me of Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight" I think the drums might be more prominent. Neat song.Ddale

Matt and Dj... A big thanks as always for your help, and matt your ideas are cool as usual. I was really working the ambient feel for the verses with a big rock chorus and I'm diggin where I've gotten to so far but this input has got my brain churning... I luv you guys! (in a very hetro masculine way, no tushy taps here)

Hi Will, nice track. It's one of those "contrast as hooks" songs, and the v/ch production contrast you've got going is really strong.I agree with the crash comment and particularly zoom's comment to make the chorus bigger each time (have you thought of harmonised "ooh-aah"s over and in time with the "on me" for the last chorus?).And that's a very cheeky reversal of "lash of the whip" to make the rhyme, too... tt
