More food for thought...

Post by eeoo » Tue Sep 09, 2025 2:59 pm

How do publishers know that what they're being sent from their composers is not AI? Do they simply take our word for it? And another somewhat related question especially for those of you who specialize in electronic genres (hip hop, chill, edm, pop etc), at this point how does a listener know whether or not it's AI they are listening to?

It's getting weird out there...

They use AI to check if the track is AI. :D

Which really raises the question: How can we be sure Casey isn't AI?

In all seriousness, there is AI software that can listen to a song and rate how likely it is to be AI. It looks for word patterns, musical characteristics, etc. You can find websites out there on which you can upload an mp3 and get a "Likely AI" rating. Some libraries are using these methods.

I had a song rejected at first by a library I've worked with for many years. They said they detected it as likely AI. I had to go back and explain it was all original, the people on the track, etc. and get them to reverse the rejection.

I assume that was for a vocal song? I wonder how it does detecting some thing like an EDM instrumental cue that's using all virtual instruments?

I'm guessing there are audio elements/patterns in even an instrumental track that are more likely to AI generated. I can't say I know enough about it to be sure. A lot of websites out there to test for AI if you Google about this. Here is one:
https://www.submithub.com/ai-song-checker

Obviously, I can't say how accurate those sites are. You *could* generate an instrumental track with Suno, test it, and the upload one of your own and compare the results. But probably not worth your time.
