moving to CA

Post by secondsoul » Fri Mar 09, 2012 1:45 am

Hi all,
After months of go/no-go (and having to miss the 2011 road rally because of it!) I am finally moving to the Bay Area at the end of March. On top of that I also just got my first forward, so pretty happy - it also means the 2012 road rally is nearby :)

I'm on the prowl for music related meetups and events in the area. There's been one thread on it so far from pboss - I totally agree with the idea of not limiting get togethers to the road rally ... Plus quite selfishly I won't know many people ;) any more pointers welcome.

Cheers :)
Matt

I'm on the Russian River, about an hour north of SF.
Spent a lot of time in Berkeley and the City. Only a little time
in San Jose, mostly for conventions and some visiting.
Not a big performing arts scene, really, but you will be
within driving distance of SF. You likely know all of this.

Welcome to NorCal!!

Hey welcome aboard, I live just north of SF out on the coast. Don't make it to San Jose much but I do get down to Santa Cruz a bit which is just over the hills from San Jose, I'm sure you'll be spending time in SC.

Best,

eo

I live in San Francisco (or The City as its often referred to), in the southeast section near Candlestick Park. I don't know the music scene in SJ but it's a big city so there's got to be stuff going on. It's not that far from SF depending on traffic but as eeo says, Santa Cruz has a thriving scene and isn't that far from San Jose.

I missed Pattys meetup last time but hope to make the next one.

Good luck on the move! You'll enjoy the bay area and it's a 6 hour drive or a one hour flight to la!

Hi Matt,

Congratulations on your move to California -- and on the TAXI forward. As our good buddy Mazz would say, "Whoo hoo!" :D

We sometimes drive 2-3 hours in L.A. traffic (from San Diego) to attend our monthly TAXI Hang groups, but it's worth every minute. We've forged some great friendships in the past 13 months -- and it makes the Road Rally even MORE fun, if you can imagine that.

Go for it! What have you got to lose? (OK, maybe 1/2 tank of gas...)

Hi Matt:

Congrats on the move to my native state of California. There's a big time songwriter from San Francisco you need to check out. He is Steve Seskin, http://www.steveseskin.com
He has commuted from SF to Nashville for many years. His workshop at one of the Road Rallys was one of the best :)
