Multichannel Music

Post by 5point1mixer » Fri Sep 28, 2012 8:35 am

I have been a long time passionate fan of music mixed into surround...

Are there any other multichannel fans on this board?

I like surround, the problem is most people don't even have their stereo listening environment correctly laid out (placement, phase, etc...). We composers, musicians, and Forum members probably have more insight into stereo or surround but most have no clue.
I've even seen really out of phase installs by reputable (expensive) home installation companies.

Love surround. But as Mark said unfortunatly its bit of a lottery for most people as to how its set up. I call it the WAF ( wife acceptance factor) ..... ie " your not putting those speakers there"

One would think that with the increase in 5.1 systems for watching movies, that WAF would be less of an issue...

the problem today is that we live in a portable disposable world - kids really are not willing to just sit and listen to music which is what multichannel requires..

It's a shame that more artists don't explore having their music mixed into surround - it's another interpretation and expression of their music..

We cannot really blame the kids.

If the adults are willing to spend the money for it, someone will produce it.
