Music Business & Terminology Class

Post by Casey H » Fri Sep 21, 2012 2:00 pm

Hey all
Just wanted to let you guys know that I will once again be teaching a class on music business and terminology at this year's Road Rally. :D

I invite all of you to attend if you can!

I put together a comprehensive presentation based on all the questions that usually come up here on the forum: Exclusive vs. non-exclusive, how to copyright, types of contract deals, collaboration, publishing, etc, etc.

If you are interested, here is a copy of last year's PowerPoint slides for my presentation:

If you don't have PowerPoint on your puter (nice alliteration! ), here is another version, exported to Microsoft Word:
http://www.caseysongs.com/publicfiles/Music_Biz_101.doc

The class schedule is not finalized yet but I wanted to make sure I invited everyone!

If you are a newbie, you especially should attend!

Best,
:ugeek:  Casey

Just a bump in shameless ( ?) promotion... :D The class is scheduled for Friday at 2:30... If your curious about what is covered, there are links up top to last year's material. I'll probably make some minor edits and adjustments for this year.

If you want the skinny on copyrights, publishing contracts, music library deals, exclusive vs. non-exclusive, work-for-hire, collaboration agreements, etc, etc, I invite you to attend. Basically, the course was developed by looking at the most common questions asked and answered right here on this forum.

Looking forward to seeing familiar and new faces this year!

Warmest,
:D Casey

Heya Casey.

As a "newbie" I'm looking forward to all the basic stuff offered at the Rally and 'specially this class. I'm not even bothering to bring CDs, just business cards.... and a notebook... and energy bars... and any (over-the-counter)pill i may need... and my wife... and my camera... and my pink dot...(oh... note to self...gotta check with my Dr and see about a medical marijuanna prescription too since I'll be in California :o )
