That's an interesting quote Hooks. There's a lot of common ground between what Gershwin said there and parts of that article Gongchime posted on the other thread. George did say it in fewer words though!

I've outdone anyone you can name — Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Strauss. Irving Berlin, he wrote 1,001 tunes. I wrote 5,500.~ James BrownI wonder if he's related to Hookstown
