MUST WATCH Ustream with Marlice Kraemer for country writers!

Post by Kolstad » Tue Dec 14, 2010 12:07 pm

If you're a country writer, well ANY writer, spend an hour to watch this wonderful interview between Michael and Marlice Kraemer who's been a publisher in Nashville, and now screens songs for Taxi!

Her resumé:
While Professional Manager at Paragon/Benson Publishing in Nashville, Marlice worked with top songwriters Michael W. Smith, Gary Chapman, Bill & Gloria Gaither, Dony McGuire and John Rosasco. She also worked extensively as a professional vocalist with Emmy Lou Harris, Gary Morris, Brenda Lee, Vince Gill, Pat Boone, Cynthia Clawson, Boxcar Willie and Little Jimmy Dickens. The interview provides AWESOME invaluable insight in how publishers reviews country songs in Nashville and elsewhere. I was soo loving this one! You can tell how deep Marlice was into her metiér, and I've never heard these things put in such clear phrases before. As an overseas songwriter, this knowledge is INVALUABLE! Funny thing is, now knowing how nitpicky they are in Nashville, it made me feel like I've been doing things right for a long time, but almost started disbelieving who I am. Thanks for grounding me again, Marlice.

You'll get insight into:
- The marketing process in country music
- Explanation of the frequent calls for country songs
- Songwriting do's and don'ts
- What Nashville publishers focus on when listening to your songs
- What the soul of Country is all about!
- Inspiration to write the right songs for todays Country scene
- And much more...

After you've watched it, feel free to start a thread about how little lyrics mean in a song..

It truly is a must watch for aspiring country writers.

Thanks Michael and Marlice!
