My 1st Forward
So we got our first forward a few weeks ago! I am just now getting forum access to brag about it! Felt great! I do have a question though, do you guys usually hear something back after a forward even if its "this didn't work out for what we needed"?
My track got forwarded on July 26 (almost 2 months ago :-/) I am still excited that I got that far but not sure if I should hold out hope for something more from it!
What's been you guys experience?

Re: My 1st Forward
It varies. For the few deals I've made, I was contacted within a week or two. But it could even be years.... you also may never hear. Once a couple of months have gone by, I will often send those tracks to libraries I already belong to, if they want them.

Congrats on your first forward! If you get a chance, post a link to your music with the listing - we'd love to hear! Hope it's the start of many more.

Congrats! What a great feeling. I've never had anyone write back unless they want the song. Hope you hear something back on it. Keep submitting.

congrats on the forward! You'll find a popular motto around here is "write, submit, forget, repeat" - and in there lies your answer! As much as you may want to wait to be contacted, what you should really do is forget about it, and repeat! I.e. write more and more and more, and continue submitting. Then when you DO get contacted, it will be a nice surprise, and you may just have even MORE music to give to them when they come knockin!

Another thing to keep in mind: if it was an non-exclusive listing, you can pitch the same track over and over again to another non-exclusive ones, until it finds a home.
Now if it is for an exclusive listing, that's a bit different. But since you didn't get contacted yet, you can still pitch it.
Congrats on the forward, and if you're still not with a PRO, it's a good time now to get your paperwork ready, just in case.

Congrats on the forward! I remember my first forward like it was 9 months ago (because it was) ;o)
One of the great things I have learned at past Road Rallies is how to deal with and what expectations to have from library owners and music supervisors... these folks are BUSY! They have digital piles of tracks sent to them EVERY DAY. They may never even get to your song if they find one or more that work before getting to it, and when they do listen they give it 10 or 15 seconds before deciding they do or do not need to hear the rest... so if they only have 15 seconds to spare to decide whether or not to listen to the whole song you can be sure they don't have time to write an email saying "Thanks, but no thanks." It's not that they are rude, they are just flat out all the time because the industry moves fast. They also talk about following up after you already have a relationship... the general advice is don't do it, but if you must, don't write too quickly, and even when you write you shouldn't expect a response.
If you spend time here on the forums you will pick up a lot of this stuff, and if you haven't been to a Road Rally then you should make it a priority if at all possible.
Hope this helps!
