My :30 spot (The French Commercial!)
Just submitted to a dispatch listing ("The Music Supervisor for a French "laundry detergent" TV commercial is in need of a 0:30 SECOND INSTRUMENTAL that meets the following criteria: They want a 0:30 sec. strong, memorable, melodic theme, that can be arranged in different styles and still be recognizable; it should be aesthetically pleasing for the French market; not loud or abrasive. No vocals/lyrics, if there is a voice it should be used as an instrument. The music should evoke "nature," "natural," "fresh," "soft," "wide," "warm.").Comments welcomed.http://www.broadjam.com/DoctorEternalThe song is " De la chanson et de l'eau" ("Of the song and the water")Peace,Dr.E

Re: My :30 spot (The French Commercial!)
Hi Doc,Nice sounds as usual!I found the melody a little hard to pinpoint due to the nice counter melodies that were happening at the same time. I have a feeling that a more direct sounding melody might be a good choice for a commercial. Just my opinion and intuition. I've been to France but I was too busy tasting wine to watch much TV....... so I don't know what the French like when it comes to commercials. It's hard to edit existing pieces, particularly down to 30 seconds, and as a result, your ending might be a bit abrupt and unexpected. I think in TV they want more "ending" sounding endings. I did a big ending on my piece which may be too over the top for the listing. It's a big contrast to you kind of sneaking out.Good work as usual.Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Thanks. I just added another one that "sneaks out" as you say. http://www.broadjam.com/DoctorEternalit's called "Morning Glorious". Totally different style. I agree, the melody could stand out more. There are actually two counter-melodies on that one. Dr.E

Dr.ELike Mazz (on another thread for this same thing), I'm really enjoying the variety of interpretations on this. Really interesting and good stuff from everyone.Specifically to Dr E... only the music supervisor knows what's going to work but speaking just as a song standing on its own, I really like the whole vibe to this.

Thanks, Dave! I think even if it's not chosen, I'm going to complete the arrangement. For now I just arranged 30 seconds of it. For those who might be interested, it's actually a fragment of a Organ Symphony I wrote about 5 years ago:http://kai-lucid-dreaming-space-opera.t ... id=116Play Symphony #1 for Organ Mvt. III, you'll here the melody at :40.Dr.E

Quote:Thanks, Dave! I think even if it's not chosen, I'm going to complete the arrangement.I might be losing it here. The track that I originally heard isn't the track that I'm hearing now. The track I was listening to had kind of an African vibe to it, it had a flute playing the melody but the whole thing was kind of ethnic. What in the heck was I listening to? EDITOK, maybe I'm not losing it. Your French titled track and the Morning Glorious track are now both the same. Le snafu somewhere.
