My boyfriend is in jr. High!

Post by KIRBIE » Mon Feb 22, 2010 12:05 pm

I don't enough guts to post any songs in peer to peer yet, so I'll post the lyrics. Tell me what you think!

Before you read, I'd just like to say that this song is neither for nor against drugs.
And I wrote this about a year ago when I was mad at my boyfriend. It is sooo truuue.

It's really very sad how you throw tantrums when you're mad
You take your anger out on me and drive the car like you're on crack
You let out annoyed sighs and roll your eyes up to the sky
And the next thing that I know, you are just fine!!

I was very naiive when I didn't believe
That drugs could keep your brain a young age
But I'm finding it true when I'm hanging 'round you
I think it's easy to say...

My boyfriend is in jr. high
His real age is just one big lie
I wish I would have known at first
I would have found another guy
He could've at least waited til he was 15
To run off and go take some *beep*
Perhaps if it weren't for those drugs
Our problems would indeed be freed

In the afternoon you don't wake up til five
You still need cigarettes and coffee to stay alive
You swear up and down you'll be on time
But an hour later you arrive
But if I make one little mistake
You b**** and moan and belly ache
And as time goes on it only gets worse
I don't know how much more I can take

I was very naiive when I didn't believe
That drugs could keep your brain a young age
But I'm finding it true when I'm hanging 'round you
I think it's easy to say...

My boyfriend is in jr. high
His real age is just one big lie
I wish I would have known at first
I would have found another guy
He could've at least waited til he was 15
To run off and go take some *beep*
Perhaps if it weren't for those drugs
Our problems would indeed be freed

It really is a shame to look at what we became
And it isn't very fair that I feel like I'm the one to blame.

The funny thing is, he helped me with the bass line LOL!!!

Kirby,

I really enjoyed your lyric. It's got a lot of energy and some terrific details and images, like "drive the car like you're on crack."

Here are two points you might consider: First, the only line I had trouble with was "Our problems would indeed be freed." A person might say that she is free of a problem or wants to be free from some problems, but the idea of the problems being freed sounds strange to me.

Second, Verse 1 has 4 lines. Verse 2 has 8 lines. I would think this would cause a problem when you write the music because normally the music is exactly the same for each verse. You might consider having three verses with 4 lines each, or two verses with 5 or 6 lines each.

Actually I like that 4 line verse to start the song. :) I call it a half-verse and it's a great way to get to the chorus quickly (which is very desirable)! 8-)

Thanks for reading guys!
yeah the crack part makes me chuckle!
And I see what you mean about the line about problems being freed. I'll just have to think of some way to change that works well. Thanks for voicing your opinion on that

As for the length of the versus; the rate at which I sing the words in the second verse is faster,so it's the same amount of time as the first one. Does that even make sense? lol
here's the page the song is on:

I should've put that up before! Silly me
