My lucky day

Post by matto » Sat Oct 14, 2006 10:32 am

Friday the 13th is supposed to be the unluckiest day of all...but yesterday proved to be the opposite for me. I had three songs on Oprah yesterday, and by itself that would be pretty cool , but what made it really special was the theme of yesterday's show, in which Oprah helped U2's Bono launch his "(product)RED" line of products designed to help stop the AIDS epidemic in Africa.I felt proud and humbled to play even just a tiny part in the launch of something so worthy, so smart and ultimately just plain cool. And hearing my own music played back to back with some of U2's biggest hits wasn't too bad either .It made me appreciate just how lucky I am...on so many levels . And all of a sudden, I'm no longer dreading the upcoming holiday shopping season... .For those of you who haven't heard about (product)RED, here's a link: http://www.joinred.com/home.aspI hope it's okay to post it here...matto

Congrats Matto. I think what Oprah & Bono are doing is great, and hearing your music with U2's must have been a real treat. I missed the show yesterday, but it repeats on Monday morning, so I'll make sure and listen! And I have no objection to your posting a link. This is a tragic and terrible situation, and awareness is the first step in taking action.Kudos to you!Hummin'bird

That's fantastic, Matt! I'm a big U2 fan, and Bono really walks the walk. I saw Bono and his partner Mr. Shriver (can't think of his first name) on Larry King explaining this new endeavor. It's a brilliant concept!Hey, with all of the royalties coming in, you can afford to buy me lunch at Jerry's Famous Deli! Ern

I'd like EWQL Platinum and Platinum XP, four PC workstations, a surround-sound studio monitor system and two 24" flat-panel displays.

Great news, Matt! You deserve it.You must be the happiest musician in the world right now. If I found a Harley under my tree I'd be the second happiest musician in the world.

Thanks everybody! Even after having had over 100 song placements on Oprah during the past year, this particular episode still felt really special. Sorry Dave and Drew, I'm only buying "red" gifts this Xmas...and no Drew, a red Harley doesn't count...
