Happy to report this was recently signed by a prominent LA Music publisher.
Here's the back story...
9 years ago a wrote this tune, a blues originally titled " Momma , What do I do now", then it was Rent's Due ( the tune came to me in a dream actually, I jumped up went into the studio and wrote down the line and initial melody).
Well, I produced it, with my Sinatra guy, loved it ,came out great. BUT, I couldn't get it signed by any of my go to publishers, so it has sat on Soundcloud gathering dust. The was co-written with my son Ryan.
Fast forward to a couple of months ago. I've been doing a lot of collaborations with Kristin Chambers, I said, hey I got this blues tune ( and if you were at last years rally at the open mic, you'd know Kristin can belt out the blues...) let me send you a link, I think it needs a facelift.. So together, new lyrics, remixed the horns and TOOK OUT a ton of things that weren't necessary. Damn, signed right of the box....
Moral of the story, sometimes you just have to take a tune and strip it down and start over... So the new tune for Ryan , Kristin and myself is " My Rent's Due" I think when you add current events, the new mix, new singer the tune has found new life.
PS I've been going thru my back catalog and redoing a number tunes.... IT works!!
