Hi, Glenn.
Welcome to the forums
Thanks for posting what happens when TAXI members dont take advantage of all the TAXI tools that are available. (Like using the wealth of knowledge in the forums)
However, I'm seeing that you have some successes through TAXI. I'm wondering what you did to leverage those contacts you made through TAXI.
I'm also wondering if your stats are number of songs submitted or number of listings subitted to.
I'm also wondering what kind of music you do. You've denied us the fullness of your experience to learn from here in the forums.
Best Regards
Russell Landwehr

I'm curious why, if you never posted on the forum before (this is the only post by the name "gbooth"), you chose to post this when now when you decided to not renew. Or have you posted under another account name before? It just seems odd that someone would never be on the forum during their 5 years of membership and then suddenly show up and post that they were not renewing.
Best of luck and regardless of what you do in the future, you probably learned a lot in your 5 years with Taxi and that will be with you always and be a part of any penny you earn placing music down the road.

Glenn, I think your post was honest and fair. 18.4% sounds like a good forward rate imo. You joined the forum in 2013, so I don't see anything suspicious or conspiratorial, and sharing your experience honestly is enviable. It's refreshing to hear a not-as-successful-as-one-would-like -to-be story, because we all know that not everyone wins every time. I would feel better after having a heart attack, if the hospital told me I had the number two heart surgeon in the metro, because number one sounds suspiciously like American exceptionalism, and everyone knows all the children in Lake Wobegon are not above average, lol! And of course gambling isn't a gamble if you go in with eyes wide open.
Let's be real, 473 submissions @ $5 a pop is $2,365, no small change. But neither is the many thousands more that can be spent
on studio gear, and arguably with less of possible career change potential. For many though, with all things considered, still the best option. For someone like me, after much improvement from where I am now, it is perhaps one of the few viable options available. Realistically though, if you separated the creative side of the music business from the music sales and supporting careers, outside of a small percentage, it never looked all that great, and the creatives are still the last to get paid after everything else is taken out.
Stick around, why let it be your first and only post??

Re: My Taxi Stats - Going to end Taxi Subscription
Glenn, did you find the Rally useful and/or educational? The Taxi membership fee is worth it just for the rally, in my opinion. If you haven't had luck with forwards (we can all relate), perhaps working with other musicians to collaborate is an option to get you into libraries? Lots of options to consider before leaving, but everyone has their own motivators and needs. Best of luck to you in the future.

Sorry to hear that Glenn, but I'm also curious to know what genre you're writing in, and what were the issues, other than the numbers of course

Re: My Taxi Stats - Going to end Taxi Subscription
The funny thing is, the benefits of TAXI are not just in submitting to listings and learning from the response. I joined this forum before ever becoming a TAXI member. It took attendance at two Rally's for me to really start to see how I could improve what I was doing. Now, besides this wonderful community and the Rally, there is also TAXI TV, which you can watch for free at any time if you miss a show. The education that is provided this way is really quite valuable. I know I would not have found my sealegs as a composer without the feedback of screeners and other TAXI members and other forum members.
One wise person said once, I paraphrase... many TAXI members aim for a Forward. What they need to do is aim for the placement. Getting a Forward is just the first step. The first audition. Now your track has to go up against all the other Forwards. Not only is it competing with the best of the best, it also has to hit a chord with the client.
Glen you joined the forum in October of 2013. You made one post (Dec 27, 2016) to announce you were cancelling your subscription. I can respect that decision, but I would suggest that you take advantage of the community and the insight offered via the forum and TAXI TV. The relationships I've developed through TAXI are indeed priceless.
