During October 2009, I discovered that Oprah Winfrey was going to have a Karaoke singing contest on her Oprah Show. Perhaps some of you tuned in to watch. It so happens that I own a Karaoke business.... and host Karaoke and deejay music every weekend. For a certain period of time, I had been using a small video camera to film many of my singers...and then I started a Youtube site where my singers (or patrons) could log on to watch their own performances. They loved it! At the same time, I had filmed a few clips of ME singing.
I found out about Oprah's contest on the very last date (Oct 19th) to submit entries. I chose to submit a song (via Oprah's website) by Steve Perry called Oh Sherrie. As it happened, I did not get selected. That's okay. But the really WEIRD part of it all....is that another "Rob" got chosen....and HE also submitted a Journey song. He is from Florida, while I live in Wisconsin.
Even though I never got selected, I thought that I might share, with all of you, the clip that i sent to Oprah. However, I had to send her an edited (shortened) version because the contest rule stated that all submitted videos must not exceed 2 minutes in length. But I am posting a link here that will enable you all to watch the full-length version. This is just a raw video and nothing all THAT special, but if you like hearing a strong male Rock vocals and a few high notes, perhaps you will kinda sorta enjoy it.
