Need advice on writing period pieces (1920's)

I think she just misspelled her name, it should be "spamela"... As far as the original question in this thread, in my experience they usually want the music to sound authentic relative to the period, they don't want an "aged" recording mimicking the limited fidelity of recordings from a given period, as this would limit the track's uses.
