Well I think its not a pop track until it becomes popular. In other words I'm not sure pop is a Genre, I believe pop is anything that sells. So taking that aside, because it's too easy to just say "pop" I would probably go for modern Jazz / R&B

I listened to the whole track and enjoyed it to the end so it may be a pop song one day. My only other comment is the drop, could have had a pad sound under the vocal or perhaps a quiet cymbal ride?

Hope this helps. Nice track. :)

Very unique track. First impression is Alanis Morrisette meets Fiona Apple at a hip hop club while checking out a motown group. Not sure how to categorize it though. :-)

MCS,

Unique, tho I'm not sure where it fits either. "pop/r&b/jazz/hip-hop" mash-up. Verses don't have a really singable melody IMO, so your average listener can't sing along. It's tough to follow the verse lyrics, but the hook is memorable. (I wish you had posted the lyrics so that I could have read them after.)

It definitely has some cool elements (like the electric key riffs right before the drop, and the backing vocals), and it's a strong performance. I recommend pitching it to pop and indie-pop listings and see what kind of feedback you get.

Great job, and good luck w/it!
Best regards,

Thanks for the feedback...when people ask me who or what my music sounds like...I always answer..."hopefully like no one elses"!! ;) Good luck to all.

Hey MC,

I think that "hopefully like no else's" is a fun, cheeky response. From what I've heard, it's a good idea to be able to describe your music succinctly - and that's a pretty good start. A screener once described one of the songs I submitted as "Jimmy Buffet meets John Prine" (not what the listing was looking for, unfortunately), and I've had other reviewers compare my music to Cat Stevens., so that's what I go with when anyone asks.

What you wrote on the soundcloud page is pretty cool - a little collision of pop/r&b/jazz/hip-hop." I'd keep asking for feedback and go with what the majority says. I've also been noticing that some of our forum colleagues have some very cool slogan's attached to their signatures. (One of the best I've seen is Andy Gabrys: "Irresistible Custom Composed Music for Film and TV.") Consider adding something like that to your handle, like "music that redefines genre's, one song at a time" or "music like nothing else" - once you figure out how you want to describe it.

Good luck!
Best regards,

Michael (Amoriello) Michnya

Hey Mike...thanks for your input. I think from the responses so far...Indie Pop...looks like the best bet. I'll work on that 'handle'...that's a great idea. Thanks!!
