Need some fresh ears!

Post by eeoo » Thu May 16, 2024 3:02 pm

Howdy all - Man I haven't posted anything here in years, good to be back! Looking for ALAs (similar artists) and any mix thoughts y'all have, my ears are fried!
Thanks so much!

I'm hearing a bit of Roxy Music (or the followup band lineup, 801). More EDM than pop-rock to my ears. Very nice!

Hey thanks guys, I'm getting an 80s vibe from your ALAs, I wonder if it could be modern retro 80s style. By the way I love both The Poice and Roxy Music so thanks for that!

Hi there! Ok so this is for sure giving 80's. For me, I would say this would fit into the same A-ha album that features "Take On Me". Like one of the chiller tracks. It's very catchy and enjoyable to listen to. The only mix thing I can maybe pick at is during the chorus, I hear a click that might be a bit too pronounced, or maybe it's panned in a way that makes it stand out more. I'm not an expert though. Great job.
Just a guy making demos hoping someone else will polish and perform them!

Hey E,

It's positive, light and catchy. Feel good.

I also get an 80's feel, but not sure it's pure 80's, it could be modern retro 80s.

Being back on P2P reviewing one of your songs gives me a 2010 feeling. And that's a good feeling. Welcome back. I just recently started posting again here too. It's still a good place!

The lyric works ok for me but has more cliches than usual for you. They wear on me a little after a while. I hear a lot of 'you and me' 'together' 'everything we'll ever need' 'take my hand' 'meant to be' etc.

Thanks Dean! Yeah i might be too far into it to rework the lyric but I hear you on the cliches, I feel like they can work if they flow. Maybe just wishful thinking

Cheers man,

EO

I really like this EO! It does have an 80s feel for sure.

This doesn't sound like either of these songs but it reminded me of them a little. Check out Winnetka Bowling League "Sha La La" (kind of a poppy Death Cab vibe), and Billie Eilish "Lunch":) I would say both of these have a modern 80s vibe.
