Hi guys,
I've got another forward! This time for the neo-classical listing. One was forwarded and one returned, (but not for the reasons that we thought when I sought feedback on here about it).
Here's the listing:
HYBRID NEOCLASSICAL INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a hard-working Music Licensing company that gets a bunch of cool placements in TV Shows, Films, and Game Trailers!
This company is searching for a range of Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues in the general stylistic ballpark of the following references:
"Marvel" by Ryan Taubert https://youtu.be/S2Ay2DD_Kco
"Supermarine" by Hans Zimmer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FgHkfi-9Cs
"The Elegy of Ares" by Laszlo Marodi https://youtu.be/tqkZuRVwDH0
Although one of the references has some vocals, please submit Instrumental Cues only for this request. Some non-lyrical vocals (like choirs, "oohs" and "ahhs") could work.
Please submit well-composed, Hybrid Neoclassical Instrumental Cues that seamlessly blend Neoclassical strings with Electronic, Hip-Hop, Sound Design, and/or Rock elements. Your submissions should have engaging motifs, captivating instrumentation in the general wheelhouse of the references, solid rhythms, and slick arrangements with plenty of dynamics, forward motion, and interest. While your submissions can range mood-wise, we recommend sticking with one central motif to help make your Cues sound more cohesive. Your productions should be polished, and any virtual sounds or samples you use should be of high quality and current-sounding.
All submissions should be about 1 to 2 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Please do NOT copy the referenced examples in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, texture, tone, and overall vibe. Do NOT submit any material with unauthorized samples of any other artists’ music, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.
This Library offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 Deal. You’ll get 50% of any sync fees and 100% of the Writer’s share. The Publisher will get 50% of sync fees and 100% of the Publisher’s Share. You’ll keep 100% of the original copyright and master recording. You must own or control the Masters and Copyright to submit to this pitch. Please submit as many Instrumental Cues as you’d like, online or per CD. Time permitting, someone from the Music Library may screen some or all of the submissions. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Sunday, July 9th, 2023. TAXI # S230709HB

Now, when getting feedback from the forums it was felt it wasn't "neo-classical enough", so I did the other track (thankfully). Oddly though, the reason it was returned was because the strings apparently sound less authentic. I'm struggling with this as I used the exact same process and library and they sound fairly akin to me, let me know what you think. It's great getting a forward but I want to learn what I'm doing wrong!
Anywho, hope you're all well.
Take care
Dave

Re: Neo-classical Forward
Congrats on the Forwards! You're off to fast start with TAXI.
The only thing that sounds less authentic to me is the first 10 seconds of "Echoes of Elysium" the upper strings sound kind of thin and synthy. But that's all I got. They both have a nice build and developmental arc.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I am quite chuffed that I'm getting forwards already, makes you feel like you're up to pro standard, which not being in anyway taught or professionally trained means a lot.mteezykeys wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2023 7:24 amCongrats on the Forwards! I take your point with it sounding a tad thin, I can always double it up with a harmony. Ah well, got one forward so I'm really happy with that.
