I was aiming to submit a couple of songs to the New Age listing (april 25).The songs are pretty old and has been in sort of a pending state until I found the right focus for them. I'm posting these songs here to see if anybody can give me some feedback in how to adapt these recordings to the listing. (if possible at all)I do have some basic ideas, but I'm sure you might come up with different and better suggestions as to how to improve them.http://www.broadjam.com/artists/artist_ ... X=24826The last one, "A Dance of Dust" is a bit too long, so a scissor in that one is already on the list...Any suggestions are much appreciated

Thanks for the feedback songwriter, you are right! These tracks may not have the kind of strong melodic hooks required by the listing, even if I were to eliminate some "transportation segments". I'll look into if there is any way to enhance the melodies...

Re: New Age submissions?
Nice sounding music. Some of it reminds me of Enigma, which is a positive comparison. I think some of the music falls in to the more ambient, yoga music style which typically uses much longer forms than the listing is seeming to call for.I haven't listened to Kitaro in some time but I remember his music was very melodic and his forms were always "followable" while he still had that elusive "New Age" thang going on. I think he would be a good model for you to check out. Another artist in that style is Andreas Wollenwider, I wonder what he's doing these days?A classic New Age album is "Valley in the Clouds" by David Arkenstone. Highly recommended and still stands up to this day (its from the 80s). He nails the requirements of this listing, IMO. Check it out.Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Re: New Age submissions?
Thanks Mazz,The more I read the listing and the more input I get from you guys, the more I realize that these particular tracks might not be exactly on target. You are right about Kitaro leaning more toward the healing type NA, yet somewhat commercial sounding.I haven't heard anything by David Arkenstone, but I will check it out.Andreas Wollenweider has a new concert program for 2007 called "Caverna Magicum, Continuum" he also released one album and a dvd last year. Thanks again!
