New Ambient Piece

Post by mazz » Tue Jul 24, 2007 12:54 pm

Just finished a new ambient piece for the sea turtles listing. I called it "Dance of the Sea Turtles", not very original, oh well http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... ream=trueI have a couple of older pieces I'm going to edit down for the other ambient listing, don't have them ready to post.TAXI # D070726TUEnjoy,Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

I'm listening on a laptop so you can take this with a grain of salt, but my main critique would be that the shakuhachi seems a little out front and takes away from the ambience --- but once again that could just be my listening environment.(whispering) "I see dead people sea turtles..." Aub... updated. I just listened in the studio--- NO problem with the mix. Very nice balance. So uhh... I guess that leaves me with the critique of... nothing.Dead on forward!

REALLY nice piece and in a lot of ways one of your best. Maybe I just like the music a lot and it's not one of your best. One thing I found out at Taxi... I'm not screener material. Even as an amateur screener... forward!

Thanks Mazz, I use the East West Gold XP Library. I think you do as well? Dave told me to get it.

Until I get a couple of computers with dual quad core Xeon processors or whatever, Platinum is out of reach for me.Gold XP runs amazingly well on a mediocre powered PC. Rarely run into issues with CPU or memory. How's your experience so far? You have all the articulations memorized yet?

Hi Amos,I thought I recoginzed some of the sounds in there! Actually I use the Platinum library. It's got 3 mic positions and 24 bit samples, otherwise, the same sounds.I run it on two computers but I still can't open everything at once!Keep up the good work!Mazz

Alright Dave didn't tell me to get it. He made many other suggestions as did everyone else and I just totally love the Gold XP. I've heard the difference in the Platinum, Mazz, and it's worth the extra $$ I believe. I wanna get that "Gypsy" Library next. It just seems like a cool one to have. Anyways, thanks for the feedback and good luck with the listing.

I added the Gold when it was on sale last year. (Before it went on sale again for less than I paid for it) Like Dave, the more I use it the more I like it. I've just begun using the samples in Kontact 2. I need to spend a little more time with it to learn how to use the scripts and other features available in Kontact.Amos, I don't know if you have checked out RA an ethnic library from East West. Same great samples and key switching, etc. It's a great compliment to Gold.BTW way, both pieces are terrific. I thru my hat in the ring on this listing as well.Chuck
