I have been round and round with this idea of needing to update my Mac. Especially the last month or so. But here's the thing: my current setup is working fine. I did just up my RAM a bit, but overall, I am very happy with how my system is working, I don't need to add anything more complicated at this point. I will have to update at some point, but right now, things are good.Paulie wrote:
Now after reading this thread I'm wondering if I need a Mac mini with a larger ssd hd and a bunch of ram.
It is so easy to fall into the upgrade cycle, with Sweetwater, Vintage Audio, B&H always sending out flyers. But I don't have a single publisher coming back to me saying, yeah, this cue is perfect, if only you had used the UA EMT 140 reverb plug.
So, I would say Paulie, only upgrade when you have to. If your system is working, let it be. When you outgrow it, upgrade. Spend you time really learning LPX and getting your workflow down. Then you'll be in a better position to know what you really need.
Cheers
