New member just saying Hello

Post by bassnut » Mon Jul 18, 2011 12:09 pm

Hi gang,

I just signed up with Taxi and this forum a few days ago, after lurking for years. I decided to join Taxi to basically motivate myself a bit more and branch out musically. Currently, pitching to Taxi's film / TV and music library listings are of most interest to me.

Brief history: I started as a guitarist and bassist for several rock bands as a teen, became a weekend warrier, got married, settled down, and started a family. I now have 4 kids and a wonderful wife that still "lets" me perform and compose. I believe music is one of the most underestimated and underappreciated gifts from God, and I love sharing musical experiences with others.

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know some of you, make friends, and hopefully meet up at the Road Rally.

Peace and joy,
Shawn

Shawn! Welcome! Though lurking might have its virtues, having people actually get to know you is a big plus.

Shawn: Where IS everbody? Usually, there are a lot more welcomes. I took the trouble to listen to the one tune you have on your TAXI link. I thought it way cool, way unique. I mean, really, really unique. I don't know who the singer was, but if the stars have aligned for you, she is your girlfiend. I thought the song way hot. The lady sung with attitude, but coming from her, it sounded like the way she really was. Nice.

Thanks for all the welcoming replies.

@Ott, the singer on "Let's Jam" is actually a 12 year old girl named Jackie. This tune is one of 16 off my latest CD production, "Walk On" by the Mississippi Valley Riders. You can search iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby etc. to preview the rest of the tracks. The CD itself is a fundraiser project for a local therapeutic horsemanship organization that benefits children and young adults with physical, mental and emotional disabilities. All the songs on the CD were, in part, created and performed by these children. I brought in local musicians to compose and contribute their ideas afterwards. It took me two years to finish, but it was a blast!

Hey Shawn,

I think it's great that even with 4 kids (which I could only imagine is a total handful ;) ) you decide to join TAXI to further your craft and help open the door to some real opportunities. Says a lot about your work ethic! I can also totally identify with you on the "having a wonderful wife" part - my wife's been my #1 supporter from day one.

Anyway - glad you're here, and see you on the boards!

Dave
