New member's new song ...

I'm sort of a retro singer/songwriter.

This is brand new off the production line. Anything poke out at anyone as "off"?

Thanks!

Hi Kev, Good to meet you. What struck me was the length! 7 plus min. long! Otherwise a good, well recorded song. Good luck, Ken

Thanks for the comment, Ken, and a pleasure to make your acquaintance too!

This is the "full version" ... which includes "The Prelude", "Mary", "Butterfly" and "The Refrain" ... and I performed each section distinctly while keeping a mind's eye on the transitions between sections with the last vocal trails. I then placed each separately recorded section next to each other in order to create the full version. My musical inclinations were forged in the days of Album Oriented Rock (Yes/ELP etc ...) so this song sort of reflects that songwriting bent ... even if it's acoustic guitar based rock.

I should probably load a "radio friendly version" ... which would be just the "Mary" section ... only 3:35 in length.

That being said, considering the length, did it hold your interest throughout or did you think it just went on too long?

Thanks again!

Best,

Kev-

Hi Kev

Welcome aboard the fun bus.

Id definitely get an edit version for submissions. 7 mins is pretty long ! The only other thing that comes up time and time again here is being to specific with a Lyric. "Mary" might work well if they were making the film "there's something else about Mary" but you'll have to get pretty lucky to fit the bill for a listing otherwise....Good track though

Oooh...just another thought. You should watch the live streams on a Monday. When Ustream works its great to hear critiques.Lots of useful stuff comes up.

Thanks for the thoughts and the welcome, Silversun!

Although new, I had noticed in the listings that specific references should be avoided when submitting. I guess I can only hope that they ask for submissions for some girl named Mary who happens to be in a story about dancing. lol ...

I do think I'll u/l an edited version (just in case!) :)

Hi Kev--

I liked your track. Like others have mentioned...it was a bit long. I could only listen to the first half. What I heard, I liked. I'll listen to the whole thing after the office closes.

Welcome to the forum!!

Good Luck!

Kevin.......yes it's a tad too long but it does have a nice story to tell.......best to not have a fadeout for the ending........trying to split this into three distinct songs may be the way to go...

Regards,
Dick

What I got from this track was, to me, an unmistakable
John Denver vibe. There are MANY (some of them current)
TAXI listings for such "AM Gold" tracks in TV and Film Placement.

Good job!!

I wish you the best.
