New piano instrumental

Post by heinsite » Sat May 02, 2009 8:28 am

hello friends, been busy...this piece i'm submitting for comments, it's a piano instrumental played and produced by our friend Alexander Orest...it's a bit on the romantic side, he took an older "anthem" vocal of mine that has been sitting and followed the melody perfectly. he is still working on the full instrumentation version (i'm trying for a little chunk of tubular bells, that i've sent him, and i hope he can splice it in...LOL...any comments are welcome, it's titled "Before My Time" and can be found on my site down there in orange.any of you instrumental folks are free to trip it, clip it or rip it...the best, warren hein

hey Warren,Beautiful piece indeed... personally I would have liked more reverb on e piano but I guess it's hard to tell right now cos it's not yet full instrumentation version yet...Tubular bells sound like it could sit well in this track yea...-Kel

Hey Warren, to quote Olive Oyl "very romantical". Maybe you should do a whole lot of instrumentation in this. It seems like you hear simple pretty arrangements like this all the time on tv, I bet you have some luck with it!

hey thanks kel and billy--those are nice words, and considering what i gave Alexander to work with, it came out damn well--it was an old PROTEST song....but yeah, i believe allot in melody, as quirky as i can be sometimes...and AO followed it damn near exactly as i wrote it, but of course played it as i certainly can only dream of... i just approved the instrumental that goes with this, and it's pretty cool if i do say so, as i did have allot to say about the cello bass line, and i'll be damned if he understands me! not always easy...LOL but true. i did run him around a bit much--i think he'll have it finalized sunday (hell, he must have been working on it at 1 am or something swedish time) when i gave him my last comments on the timpani volume and bell pan/volume, so i think he'll have it done manana.thanks for the comments on this one, truly appreciated!the best, warren

Warren,The piano part Alexander played does seem a good basis from which to orchestrate. I'll listen again and comment when you post the fuller version.Vince

Well the fake realtime eq display on the player threw me off for a minute....heheI had thought that the arrangement could be changed a bit to make it more interesting at intro. The piece begins and repeats after 5 seconds. I believe that if you merge what starts at 32 seconds after the five second mark then it would be more interesting. If I mentally rearrange then I believe it represents "opening with the chorus" aka Richard Marx.

Nice piece! I could see it in a romantic film scene! I especially like the higher register part at the end.I think the only problems are with the authenticity of the sound/samples and the reverb issue that was brought up earlier.I like it!Colm.

The sound is Steinway from Akoustik Piano, but I agree with the reverb, I have added some more reverb on another version now.

ok, i'm about to go listen to Alexander's new version...i'm still happy with this, and carlos, i'll be damned if that is the 3rd try at the intro, i finally asked him to go to the finale (which technically isn't the chorus or the verse..) and it's close. BUT A GREAT COMMENT!be back with the instrumental version later if anyone wants to comment.thank you all much, warren
