New system w/2 drives
Finally got my new VisionDAW workstation today! Should be night and day from the old Dell I've been using. I came with a 240GB SS drive and a second 1TB hard drive. Is the idea to load all programs, VSTs, etc to the SS drive and only use the 1TB for final mixes?

Re: New system w/2 drives
Hi Dave, What DAW are you using. I know with Pro Tools they recommend a separate drive to record to. Your set up would work fine, it's just a matter of your filing system. The other thing, with an ssd, and it may not be as much of an issue now day, I understand they do not hold up as well to the constant changes to files, which I believe would be the case when recording to your ssd. A couple things to consider...

I'd use one drive to load all my programs and plugins etc.
I'd use the other drive to load ALL my audio, not just my final mixes.
The best way to do this, is when you create a new project, choose the save as destination as your audio drive.
The idea is that the CPU can work quicker if it has to pull the information from two separate places rather than returning to just one place to pull out the DAW information and then the audio information.

Re: New system w/2 drives
I use Mixcraft 6 which is pretty small. Once I load Komplete 9 (a 12 DVD monster) I won't have much space on the SS drive. But the second drive will be nearly empty for projects and final mixes. Ideally, I think I should have a 3rd drive for the samples and just keep the SS for the operating system. So far, this thing screams compared to my old Dell!
