New topics at Passive Promotion

Post by ctheory11 » Tue Dec 02, 2008 7:25 am

Hi folks,I'm still plugging away at my promotion blog. I've got a bunch of new articles up, and we've had two outside contributions. Recent topics include: * Is music promotion really all about relationships? * Why you can't just leave promotion to the experts * Indie promotion from a store's perspective * Using low-budget video to make new fans through YouTube * Why you must send your CD to Muze and Allmusic * Figure out which sites are worth sending your CD to with Alexa * How your computer knows the song titles when you insert a CD * Why Pandora is the future of radio * How to partner with CD Baby and AmazonHope to see you at http://www.passivepromotion.comAll the best,Brian.COLOR THEORY21st Century Piano Pop for fans of Depeche Mode, The Postal ServiceBrian Hazard = Color Theorycolortheory@colortheory.comhttp://www.colortheory.com

Just posted a primer to introduce artists to Last.fm and help get them started. IMHO, it's a site that all musicians should be on - and probably already are without their knowing it!http://www.passivepromotion.com/lastfmBrian.COLOR THEORYelectronic indie piano popBrian Hazard = Color Theorycolortheory@colortheory.comhttp://www.colortheory.com

I've been touting your Passive Promotion blog to friends and colleagues across the 'net, including the general discussion forum here at Taxi. There aren't many labels, indie or otherwise, that are willing to discuss actual sales figures. Thanks so much for the unique perspective you provide. I believe that good things happen to deserving folks; I don't think I'm going out on a limb, here, by predicting that you're about to win your category in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Best of luck to you!

I appreciate it! God knows I need all the help I can get .I'm with you on the JLSC. I've been very active in wrangling votes, and my opponent hasn't done too much that I can detect. But I'm not counting my chickens yet - he could have a very motivated Mom!Brian.www.passivepromotion.com

I've had some luck with a relatively new internet radio site called Jango, essentially "buying" new fans at $1 each and radio plays at 2 cents each. Full details are on my promotion blog here:http://www.passivepromotion.com/jangoBrian.COLOR THEORYelectronic indie piano popBrian Hazard = Color Theorycolortheory@colortheory.comhttp://www.colortheory.com
