New website(s) in progress - any thoughts, tips, or advice

Post by fusilierb » Sat Mar 13, 2010 1:49 am

I'm working on two different web sites now.

The one that is closest to being finished, and the one I'm asking for feedback on is my Production Site. This is the business card site that is designed to do one thing and one thing only. Show off my music and offer myself out as a custom composer. It's also where I'll be self licensing and promoting licensing opportunities. So it's much more focused. I only mention myself as a featured composer on this site. Mainly because I'm not planning on being the only writer who writes for this production company. I'm just the first.

So if you would please have a look and let me know what you think. Any typos or comments about they layout or really anything. It would help me put the finishing touches on this guy. I'd like to officially launch this site next weekend.

The other site is a more personal website that I'm planning on teaching and engaging people in interesting conversations about music, guitar playing, theory, orchestration, promoting your music, etc. I want it to be more of a learning center. Of course, it will also act as a showcase for my music and what I'm doing to improve and to gain contacts and connections. It's less business and more fun and is not even close to being finished. But the bare bones are built and the structure is all there. I'm still working on fleshing out lessons and deciding the best approach to making and publishing the little movies. This won't be ready for another 6 months, but if your curious, it can be found here:

I saw your comment come in and yeah, only the letter A came through. I thought you were being esoteric. So I logged out and added a comment. It let me type anything I wanted. Maybe you were just too hungry?? Eat and try again if you please. :)

Nicely done Bryan. Very professional and easy to navigate. Did notice one thing that does not read right on the second paragraph of the "Custom Composing" page.

"Shallow Bog produces music broadcast quality for feature film soundtracks and trailers, TV ads, documentaries, video games, dramas, websites, presentations, libraries etc. "

maybe should be

"Shallow Bog produces broadcast quality music for feature film soundtracks and trailers, TV ads, documentaries, video games, dramas, websites, presentations, libraries etc. "

I typed in a quick comment without a problem.

Thanks for poking around and checking it out Kel! I've built this thing like four times and finally like the look and feel. Now to flesh out the licensing stuff.

Yikes! Great catch. Thanks for that. All fixed. Note to self: No more posting of web sites at 4 AM for me.

Hmmm. Safari has been in a 4.0 version for a while now. You should download the latest version. Not because I want you to be able to post easily on my site, but because Safari 4 if MUCH faster and better than your version. U should upgrade. You'll like!
