It's good you figured out the problem though. I once had a Shure Sm58, I didn't like it. I hear many have the Shure SM7 and like it. I bought a "vintage" Beyerdynamic dynamic off of ebay and really like it! There are several for the same price as the Shure SM58 at Sweetwater. I'm not too familiar with the dynamic mics other than those 2, the sm58 was my first and almost last dynamic,lol! There are numerous mic shootouts on youtube and gearslutz, which honestly, I can't tell a lot about about a mic by watching or listening to others, but singing and hearing myself with a mic, I can almost immediately tell if I like it or not.
