Newbie with second thoughts

I seriously thought about not continuing my membership for a while in my first year because of financial hardships. I'd figured out that it was only going to run a few bucks a week to renew but it was still that tight for me. If I didn't pay for my membership I could still take advantage of many of Taxi's resources, but I know myself well enough to know that I wouldn't keep up with the pace that I was learning at.I think its worth the cash and just renewed for 2 more years.Learning to "interpret" the listings, honing your skills, developing your chops - its a process that we all have to go through no matter how many forwards or deals or returns we get . No matter where you are in your career path, Taxi is a great tool that will movs you further along. Hope this helps you with your decision.

My first year, I sent in two-three songs, rejected on all fronts and was thoroughly frustrated, BUT the advice I got on those 3 songs was solid and I got everything I could out of those critiques that was usable. You don't know much about me, but if you check out my info (website in signature), you'll see I'm doing well. TAXI is just one tool in mybox, but it was very useful and the Road Rally (My first one was 2007) was life-changing. I think TAXI even has me quoted on the website saying that. Hang tough. Give it at least a year or two before you decide it's really not going to work for you. I don't need to reiterate the advice you've gotten above, but they are all valid and will definitely help you understand what needs to be done.K

Jim, I have been a member of Taxi for a year and a half, have more than a few submissions with no forwards for various reasons... your frustration is understood by many as you can see. But just reading over the responses to you're thread alone... I mean come on, you can't tell me this Taxi thing don't Rock! These are all people in the industry talking to you... a community of like minded individules building a career in this business, willing to converse with you and discuss your music. Honestly, intelligently, and almost always in a positive light. Some members more sucsessful than others, but all striving for the same thing. This aspect of the Taxi Membership alone is absolutly priceless. I truly hope you choose to stick it out my brother in the quest...That being said... a... can someone help me down off my pulpit... its high and I'm afraid.

In my area, the first year of Taxi membership is worth 4 rounds of golf...or watching 15 new releases in a movie studio eating popcorn (hopefully listening to some music by Taxi members!)...or half a year of a fitness membership...or one middle-of-the-road piece of music gear...or two weekends of serious partying in the bars (haven't done that in a more than a dozen years, though!).Your stuff is good...I'd stick around and work at it with all the great advice folks are giving out. I doubt you'll be dissappointed at the 12 month mark.Just my $0.02 !

Hey I'm glad you are still here! I'm listening now to the songs on your myspace page and enjoying them SO much! I hear Beatles, am loving all the harmonies, etc. Unfortunately I'm not one of the people who might know what sorts of listings this style would work for, but any how that is more properly addressed in the Peer Review section - but I can tell you that this is enjoyable and very listenable, at least to me! --Mer

Since it's common knowlege that those of us from the Midwest are taking over the music business, you're a shoe-in once you get the "listing targeting" thing worked out. Gave a listen to a few tracks on your MySpace site... good stuff. Has a definite "Beatles" influence... which helps for some listings and not so much for others. The video was pretty interesting.
