No Listing - collab for defunct show, Rebel
My co-writer and I developed this for the recent ABC show, Rebel, but never completed or pitched it. We're still interested in developing it for future possible pitches. Besides for the obvious need for better vocalist, any feedback on lyric, melody, arrangement, etc. is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your ears.

Lyrics
Hmm, mm...
River’s risin’, bridge is burnt
Don’t know where you’re gonna turn
Can’t move forward, can’t go back
How did you get so off track
Got a problem
Clock is tickin’
She’s on your side
Yeah, she’s The Fixer
Deep, dark troubles
Are gettin’ thicker
She’s on your side
Yeah, she’s The Fixer
Against the wall, no way out
When it all starts tumbling down
Pray for a second chance
Looking for deliverance
Got a problem
Clock is tickin’
She’s on your side
Yeah, she’s The Fixer
Deep, dark troubles
Are gettin’ thicker
She’s on your side
Yeah, she’s The Fixer
Trials and tribulations
Lead us not to temptation
Waiting for salvation
From the current situation
Got a problem
Clock is tickin’’
She’s on your side
Yeah, she’s The Fixer
Deep, dark troubles
Are gettin’ thicker
She’s on your side
Yeah, she’s The Fixer
Got a problem
Clock is tickin’’
She’s on your side
Yeah, she’s The Fixer
Deep, dark troubles
Are gettin’ thicker
She’s on your side
Yeah, she’s The Fixer
The Fixer...

Well hi there. It's been awhile. Liked the riff and general feel. Your singer is singing flat in many places. have to fix that. Also her voice is muffled and needs some EQ work. I wish you well.
Thankfully, while growing old is compulsory, growing up remains optional!

As you are aware, this vocal isn't going to work, it is hard for me personally to "hear past" that
I think if you could someone to sing this at least 50% better it would be easier to address your other concerns
I hope that helps

Thanks, guys. Yeah, she's aware of her vocal limitations, and we'll hire a singer once we're confident in the rest. @feaker66, I've been crazy busy, so precious little time for the forums. Working on correcting over the next few months.

Lyrics are too specific and have a distinct religious slant which again is probably too on the nose for more general sync opportunities.

Hi Mike
A cool groove. Unfortunately, it's not written very well as a song before you even get to the vocal and production. Lyrically, there just is no story development other than if you have a problem, she's the fixer. Not much to go on there. And the word "fixer" has other connotations like gangsters. Musically, the chorus doesn't stand out from the verse enough as a hook. It has the same rhythm and phrasing as the verse and raising that one note on "FIX-er" doesn't give it the needed hook. It could be a better vocal would show more melody lift in the chorus, so grain of salt on that one.
To pitch a song for Film/TV today, especially major network, it has to sound contemporary (generally youthful) and be great all around-- lyrics, vocal, melody, production, etc. If not contemporary, then a period piece-- something that sounds authentic to a time period so it could be in a scene from that time (e.g. 60s, 70s). For example here, maybe like "The Acid Queen" from Tommy.
Sometimes people put the cart before the horse as far as recording and production before the SONG is there. The song always comes first, a good melody with a chorus that stands out, compelling lyrics, etc. Usually if a song is good, it shines even on a rough recording.
Best,
Casey

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the feedback. Although the NSAI eval I received was somewhat mixed, my co-writer got mostly positive feedback from her NSAI adopt-a-shop pro and Songtown. Casey, I completely agree with your last point. I never want to fully produce anything until I feel like the song is well written. That's why I always try to get as much feedback as possible.
Thanks again for listening and all your comments,
