NY AD Agency Forward

Post by rpittelman » Wed Jun 19, 2013 1:58 pm

I'm very happy to say that I got a forward for this listing for my track called "My Toes in the Sand" on my Taxi page

U130617IN
TOP NY AD AGENCY needs Mid-Tempo, acoustic-based INSTRUMENTALS for a HUGE NATIONAL TV COMMERCIAL. They need easy, breezy feeling tracks with a warm, beach-y vibe to compliment a shot of two ladies talking on a beach. Give them something with a natural, earthy, and organic tone. Don’t go synthy!! Acoustic guitar, ukulele, light percussion, flute… anything that will let your track add ambience, but not get in the way of the wall-to-wall dialogue. Once again, the actors are the stars of the TV spot, not the music. But be warned, we DO NOT think they’re looking for the kind of music you’d hear at a tiki bar, or on a Jamaican holiday. Don’t break out the steel drums, umbrella drinks, or go to the islands for this spot. This beach is probably in the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard! Relaxing, not a party scene. And here’s the most shocking thing we’ve heard all day. The agency likes the classic Canned Heat song, “Goin’ Up The Country” against the video, but they think it’s too fast. And we quote, “The light, airy attitude is what we like.” Seriously?!!! “Going Up The Country” by Canned Heat: http://bit.ly/9Lq7Ab Holy crapoli, they’ve actually got two dudes playing wooden flutes. And did you see the part when they did the little two-step thing together? It doesn’t get much better than that! TAXI TIP: Use the referenced song ONLY as a guide for vibe and instrumentation. Remember, they DO NOT want vocals, and Canned Heat’s tempo is too fast. They “love the flute and the fun rhythmic feel of the guitar.” I’m actually laughing as I write this! They’re interested in hearing tracks that range from “Going Up The Country,” to a much more contemporary feel. Whew! Thank goodness!! TAXI TIP 2: Check out Colbie Caillat’s song, “I Do.” http://bit.ly/151HGG2 Try capturing that vibe and general sound, but do it a tad slower. Feels pretty breezy and beach-y to us, but it’s a tad too fast. Slow your groove down. We’re going to tell the screeners to forward great tracks that fit either of the two descriptions! Quoting the source: “This Ad is WALL-to-WALL copy (dialogue). INSTRUMENTALS only. Unless it’s the “La la la” vocal stuff… but even that will have to be really sparse to work for this.” Your instrumentals must be at least 2 minutes long, and we know this agency likes fades, not buttoned endings. If you’ve got an existing track that already has a buttoned ending, don’t sweat it. They can always do a fade in post. Broadcast Quality is needed for this spot (great home recordings are fine). The estimated license fee for this placement is $10,000-$15,000. This is a Direct-to Agency placement, so YOU WILL KEEP 100% of the income. You must own or control 100% of your master and composition rights to submit for this pitch. Please DO NOT copy or rip off the referenced songs or artists in any way, shape or form. Do NOT submit songs with samples of any other artists’ material. All instrumentals will be screened on a Yes/No Basis. Please submit 1-3 Instrumental tracks online, or per CD, no later than MONDAY, June 17th at 4pm (PDT). TAXI #U130617IN

Very nice Robbie.... I really like the rhythmic triplets. Where do you find sand to put your toes in in Woodstock? :) I got one forwarded for this listing as well ... a tune called Summer Easy.
Good luck .
