Old dusty half-of-a-song

Post by grandmatarkin » Thu Mar 19, 2009 12:00 am

Hey there...I've recently started working on music again (after about five months of umm "hibernation") and I've been taking inventory of the music that I already have. I came across this little number that just stops in the middle... I must have ran out of steam when I was recording Question is... I like it, but what kind of opp would it be good for? How could I target it (if at all)? I basically want to know if it's worth finishing or should I just move on to more marketable things. The closest thing I can think of is some sort of sports theme, but I'm not so sure. Is this song destined to be an orphan? Anyhoo, here's the link...http://www.taximusic.com/download/22088 ... shed.mp3Oh, and careful... it kind of starts with a bang Thanks!

Hey Dave... This sounds awesome.... I don't know if it's sports.... maybe action... genres not my strong suit but I have a hard time thinking this couldn't fit somewhere....My suggestion is to put a change in at 23 secs.,.. before the guitar comes in... and then transition back to the solo/ending... which I like....Good stuff!!Peace, Geo

Thanks for the response. The funny thing about the sudden stop is, I literally said "I'll think I'll go get something to eat" while i was recording it and that was the last attention this song every received. That must have been a very good meal But now I'm liking your idea of having the stop as the end and adding something else in the middle. Up till now, I figured I'd just have to continue on where it stopped. My biggest concern (for the arrangement) if I work on it again is the orchestra hit and marimba (?) "cheese factor". I'm thinking they might be a little over the top (especially the hits.)Sorry for the fractured post; I've been awake 39 hours Cheers

Yeah .... I think they might be... leave some of the hits... accents... but I do dig the groove.... thought it could work as a show theme... cop drama or something...Peace, Geo

My first impression is Sports News, not the extreme kind but Sporty enough... I am very certain that I am certain it's for that. IMHOIt's definitely good enough for something on TV... It's a good track!-Kel

Hey grandmatarkin!Yeah, I'd hafta' agree with Kel. Sounds somewhere along those lines from what I can tell. Now you can expand on it, and possibly narrow it down some more with another section that really says: "sports news". Sounds like it's takin' off in a good direction from what I hear.ibanez468
