If anyone doesn't know, "OMG II" was because I previously had posted something similar when an ASCAP check arrived for another placement as "OMG"...Just as a word of encouragement to everyone, you can have successes if you are patient, write good music, and have good recordings. People post here all the time that they are frustrated because they have had deals or forwards and no placements or money. I started in this business in the year 2000. These things happened now in 2008. The music was placed in a library at least 2-3 years ago. Now, I'm not going to get rich on any of this or even come out revenue positive. I don't write a lot of songs so I won't get enough songs in libraries to create a large revenue stream (not complaining, explaining!)... However, if you listen carefully to what Matto, Vikki, and others post here you learn that it's a 5-10 year investment and the key to a revenue stream is having MANY tracks in libraries. When you have a lot out there working for you, it starts to add up. For example, each time that show on The Food Network airs, I will get a royalty. That might be a few hundred dollars a year. Imagine 10, 20, or 30 of those happening each year down the road. That's not including any upfront license fees which you get for many placements (not all).So, write a lot (easy for me to say) and with TAXI and every other way you can, market the hell out of your music.Hopefully there will be an OMG III, IV, and V for me...
