Omnisphere Meditation Song

This one's for all of you who, like me, bought Omnisphere the day it came out in September. First I edited several warm pads until I thought they sounded suitable for meditation. Next I recorded a song that turned out to be very similar to one I recorded earlier in the year before Omnisphere. This happy accident resulted is an interesting side-by-side comparison.In the first example all of the sounds are Omnisphere except the tabla drums, the tanpura drone, and my sitar playing.Made with Omnisphere:Deep AwakeningMade with older samples:Indigo DreamsIt's interesting to note that the older song is less cluttered than the Omnisphere song because the sounds in Omnisphere are so complex. That's a good lesson. I'm planning to adopt a "less is more" attitude the next time I use Omnisphere for a project. A little goes a long way! Hi Allen,They seem to be 2 different songs to me. The first one was very relaxing but some of the instruments did'nt have enough presence (Sitar for one) reverb seemed to bury it. But it WAS very relaxing to me.The second seemed to have the opposite effect with the Sitars way out front. IMHO if you could meet the 2 in the middle (presence and reverb wise) you would be right on the money.I don't work in this genre but love to hear it!!Keep 'em coming.Thanks for sharing!!Kitz

Allen,I'm with Kitz--two different songs, although they both seem usable as background for visual scenes. Come to think of it, one could accompany your first paragraph, which is factual and too the point; the other could serve as backdrop for your last paragraph, which is more descriptive and full of colorful, moving emoticons!Only comment is on the Omnisphere piece: one of the sounds must have significant low end content as it seemed to rumble down there (very mildly) occasionally. You might have to back off the reverb on the bass side (or damp it more).Love the sitar--how ofter do you hear that in a song nowadays?Vince

Great advice everybody! I decided to keep the low end for the time being because it gives a good massage to go along with the relaxation, but I did clear out some mud in the mix by altering some parts that were creating unwanted sonic build-up. Thanks for the kind words and for helping me think objectively.So here's my latest version posted as a video:

Allen.I can see how you think both songs are similar because of the ambient nature of the underlying tracks, but the sitar is far more prominent in the 2nd track. Both tracks were great to listen to,very enjoyable.
