One More Reason MySpace Is Becoming Irrelevant

Hadn't been on my mySpace page for a couple of months. Thought I'd go and listen to one of my songs that was done in a pop-rock format, since I don't have it posted on YouTube. Here's the message I got: flash is unavailable for playback. your flash version is 11.4.402. you can 1) try refreshing the page 2) restarting your browser 3) upgrading your flash browser. Guess what I got after failing on options #1 & 2? The "option" on door #3 was "install Adobe flash player 11.4.402.287 for "free" Google Chrome, a fast web browser with "optimized flash player integration". Also, this message: "p;ease note, depending on your settings, you may have to temporarily disable your antivirus software".
So, I can no longer listen to my own songs on my MySpace page!!! I am expected to sign on to a Google browser, when I consider Google the ultimate "Big Brother", an entity as invasive as George Orwell's government in "1984"? and further, I am to drop my antivirus protections (after getting hacked just a month ago?), so "Google Chrome' can inset itself into my computer? What exactly, am I missing here? I'm serious -- why does MySpace demand that I switch to google to access the songs I have posted there? I am really ticked, to say the least. Ott

I took all my music off and cancelled my myspace account about a year or two ago. However, some of my profile info still comes up in searches once in a while. I suppose they are looking to make money anyway they can at this point. They are probably getting little cut from Google for every user that installs Chrome.

You don't need to install Google Chrome to access your Myspace. You just need to maybe update Adobe Flash to the latest version. This is NOT a Myspace problem; it's most likely your browser plugin that needs an update. Flash is a browser plugin, so point it at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ UNCHECK THE BOX THAT INSTALLS MACAFFEE, then download and and install; you shouldn't need to disable your antivirus scanner, as long as you have admin privileges or are the primary/sole user on your machine. The folks at Flash will auto-detect your operating system and browser, and send you the correct installer file, which will go wherever your downloads go, usually either the desktop or a folder in "My Documents" labeled "Downloads" or "My Downloads" or some such. When you double-click to open the installer, you may get a security warning from Windows, about driver signing or some other silly, unnecessary tripe; click the 'do it anyway, cuz I said so' button, and don't worry, be happy.

I didn't know anyone still used myspace.

FWIW I love Chrome, it is very intuitive and makes everything faster.

Weird. Today I can play my songs on Myspace, last night I could not. However, I have a new question. One of my contacts in England put a few of my lyrics to music. he downloaded his version to Songamp. For the first couple of days after he did this, I was able to listen to hear his rendition of my brilliant lyrics.

The last two days, I can not get the song to play. Any suggestions? Ott

Yes, have him load the songs to Myspace now since now that's working for you.

I have never used MyFace or another other social network (there's just so many people who aren't very social). I'm sure there are some things I would enjoy about them but I don't feel they're worth the trouble. Plus, a profile isn't able to show others what a magnificent bastard I am.

OK now, what were we talking about?
