one song 3 reviews

Post by songmkr6 » Sat Dec 20, 2008 11:29 am

I don't get it. A song gets a review as on target with high grades and returned. Love it. Then same song returned low marks not good enough. ech. Who do you listen to? I'm having the song redone with sax and piano as the one reviewer said it needed while the other said it was fine. Why no forward. It's for a song placement not artist. I have my own well equipt studio but after moving to rural NC, there's no one who plays anything. I'm pulling out my hair because the song, Everytime I Got A Man Around is so catchy, different, well writen and I'm begining to doubt myself. This ain't for sissies. I've had 3 forwards in the last 4 months, but nothing yet.

I feel your pain, it can be frustrating.I suggest you focus less on the song by itself and more on the song's appropriateness for the listing in question. That's one of the main keys to success in TAXI, targeting the right song to the right listing.Your situation is a classic one of, "it's not about the song, it's about the listing".I don't know how long you've been with TAXI or have been submitting but it does seem to take a bit of time to generate a deal from any forwards. The fact that you're getting some forwards is encouraging and is a sign that you're on the right track. If you search around here, you'll see that it can take from a few weeks to a couple of years (or never) to hear back from a forward, so just keep on writing, re-writing and submitting. If you post the song and the listings in the Peer to Peer section, you'll get some feedback from the folks here as to whether you were on target or not. It is, of course, opinions, but sometimes a trend will emerge in the feedback.Overall, don't take it too personally if you get a return. If you are getting some forwards, your music is probably good, you may still need to get your "targeting to the listing" chops up to speed. It's a continual learning process.HTH,Mazz

hello there songmkr6, listen to Mazz! Also don't just sit around waiting for forwards & returns but do some research to learn who else might be looking for songs like yours (libraries etc.) and send 'em out. No harm in trying!

I haven't heard your music at all smkr6 BUT if you have chops AND listen to both mazz and billg your success is just a matter of time... ;-) wta
