Re: ONOFFON
The ONOFFON SSP of the Day comes from an online CD distributor, earBuzz.com. They have our first two CDs listed and have now joined our latest CD to our page - here is the link and the posted review of Bridge to Presage -earBuzz.com - ONOFFONhttp://www.earbuzz.com/onoffonearBuzz Review: Organic and blessed. The latest CD from cult jazz L.A. superior artists, OnOffOn, is a miracle in composition, ease, and creativity. "Bridge to Presage" combines alternative directions in consort with gentle and secure expression to create the most satisfying jazz CD we've received this year. It is a complete work with 9 tracks intended to hear from start to finish. The record opens up with "Ottone Prelude" - with warm and real flugel horn providing the introduction and foreplay of what's to come. "Andante" hits the road of rolling movement - we hear influences of Mays and Metheny. "Duetto Voci Equali" is a glimpse of relationship growth between a guitar and piano... wonderful. "Percossa E Ottone Rapsodia", with spaghetti western horn work ala Ennio Morricone - perhaps a tribute to the fact that most of the movie genre was financed by Italian producers? Either way - the track includes what sounds like a marketplace - providing an atmosphere of chaos on movement. A swirling nearly psychedelic wave to Miles in "Perdendosi" - syncopated bass provides a backbone for dueling sax screaming and pining - and the flugel reminds us of where we came from. "Finale" brings us all home to a more contemporary jazz sense - releasing us from OnOffOn's latest musical safari and exploration. Great great great."This review stands with some of the best reviews we've ever received - I don't know what else to say other than thank you earBuzz!!!!

Here's a pretty cool ONOFFON SSP of the Day - left as a private entry on our Guestbook -ONOFFONSaturday 08/27/2005 5:52:58am Name: D.K.Referred By: Just Surfed InLocation: St. Louis, MissouriComments: "What an amazing ensemble. I would love to witness this artistry live. Does the midwest ever get a chance to hear these sonic gifts? Just purchased all 3 Cds with pride, knowing I will be the first on my block to own them. I think I just might have to open my radio show with "Opus" on Tuesday night! Cheers and may your music continue to grow."Our sincere thanks go out to D.K. for his kind words of support for our music...

Re: ONOFFON
Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is a Genre Spotlight of the Week over at Mixposure in Jazz - they've featured our song, "Weekend in Montreal" - here's what they say -Mixposure - Spotlight on musichttp://www.mixposure.com/spotlight.php?gid=8384"ONOFFON - This track speaks volumes about the genre of modern jazz. Listen to the gentile nuiances in the phrasing and the strong linear balance in the theme line. The great knowledge in the chemistry between the players is unrivaled. The ability to go from point A to point B is flawless. The way the parts speak to each other sells this piece to even the most casual listener. If you get a chance to see this band live, drop everything and go."Our thanks to Dan for this spotlight feature and the kind words for our music...

The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is a couple of listener reviews of our song, "Weekend in Montreal" - Reviews for Weekend in Montreal by ONOFFONhttp://www.mixposure.com/song.php?songid=563 Reviewed by: Maria Daines - 9/5/2005 "A wild world... A hit you in the ears and senses wandering delight of sound and texture, feel this warmth and fluidity, it plays with every beat and misses no opportunity to speak and communicate with the listener. A very beautiful voyage into another genre for me that I rarely visit, well I am very glad I did. This piece of music is so finely tuned that it is exquisite and it could be the soundscape to many seasonal scenes within a walk through another country.Graceful, challenging, upbeat, sentimental, fiery and full bodied with a slight temper boiling beneath the surface, definitely smouldering in rich imagery that I can see.Thank you (a jazz spotlight visitor!)" Reviewed by: WTFjazzfunk - 8/12/2005 "great energy Fantastic song, and interesting to hear the complete change in vibe from the last song of yours I heard. A truly accomplished band. Good to know there's this kind of talent going in this kind of direction.Keep it up!"Our sincere thanks to Maria Daines and WTFjazzfunk for their inspired visions of our music... it is truly gratifying to me that a song that we 'released' almost eight years ago still continues to inspire these types of reviews in new listeners...

Re: ONOFFON
ONOFFON's SSP of the Day is from another OMD called IAC - I recently uploaded a couple of tracks over there and discovered that they seem to be doing rather well on the jazz charts - they have also already been included in seven different listener stations, a list that appears on our music page -ONOFFON at IAChttp://IndependentArtistsCompany.com/kiac/artist.aspx?ID=12717IAC Jazz Chartshttp://IndependentArtistsCompany.com/kiac/genre_chart.aspx?Genre=JazzAs I am posting this, "Weekend in Montreal" is charting at #4, and "Mardi Gras" is at #10! Pretty cool...Plus, they have a featured list called "IAC Picks" and at the top of the list is "Mardi Gras"!!!!Thanks to IAC for the cool feature...

Re: ONOFFON
The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is very unusual - I have been VERY busy over the last two weeks. I am in negotiations to supply three different independent movies with music - one would be providing the entire soundtrack, underscore, and feature tunes - and the other two with select recordings. On top of that, we are being included in a few different music libraries, one individual puts us on the level of Larry Carlton and Philip Bailey. As you all know, any placement is good - for a band like ours, that plays such diverse styles of music, film and television placement is the best venue for us.That's why I joined TAXI in the first place. Unfortunately, none of these deals has anything to do with TAXI. So far, I've placed nothing through TAXI - only forwards. I know this has nothing to do with TAXI - they can't make people place your music - I had hoped for better, though.Who knows - a producer we were forwarded to could call right after I post this...

Re: ONOFFON
The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is the soon-to-be launch of American Idol Underground. Yes - you read right - American Idol Underground. A new website will be launching in October that is connected to the American Idol people - on this site, though, you don't have to be 18-25 years old (THANK GOD!!!!!!) and they have twelve different genres to choose from, one being Jazz (cooooool)! Now, their promotion is that every group that submits a song has to pay $50.00 each as a submission fee - BUT - CD Baby artists get one FREE submission... (THANK GOD!!!!!!).So - as our one shot we have chosen our "hit" song, 'Mardi Gras'. We have been informed that it has been accepted and will be in the running once it all launches.Plus, I have received my official invitation to the launch party in Hollywood next month. Should be a hoot!More info to come as the launch approaches...

Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is a comment left on our MySpace page by a promoter/musician, Len Jennings, who is in a Christian rock band, Rock of the Ages. We have networked in cyberspace for a number of years now and he has always shown support for what we do, musically and promotionally. MySpace - ONOFFONhttp://www.myspace.com/onoffonLenOct 7, 2005 1:47 PM"Hey Von! Just wanted to drop a note to say "hi!" You guys make awesome music and are truly an inspiration to the other indy and DIY musicians out there. And a note to those who might be jealous of the acclaim ONOFFON receives...get off your backsides! There's no substitution for hard work and dedication. And talent isn't the gift(s) you're born with, it's what you do with them. I encourage you guys to keep on keepin' on! Take care!~lj~"I value his comments and opinions - they give me encouragement in times when it's sometimes hard to muster. It can be difficult to continue on in the face of an industry that doesn't care if you win awards on the independent scene or receive comparisons to artists like Chick Corea and Miles Davis and Weather Report. Still - when I receive comments like these - it furthers my resolve... thanks Len...
