The 002 is brilliantly designed, I have to say. This is my review for Mix magazine a few years ago:http://mixonline.com/mag/audio_digidesi ... index.html

Quote:LE comes with a better software bundle, but on the other hand the M-Audio box will work with software other than Pro Tools and the 002 won't. Or do you really mean the Command 8? That's just a controller - no audio interface.I'm considering 2 options. One is to get a Digi002 Controller. The other is to get a Digi002 rack with a Tascam 2400 controller (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=706947).Nick, I know you said you don't mind working without faders, but it's much easier for me (repetitive stress injury). I like the idea of having 24 faders so I don't have to switch banks as often.Would the Digi002 work well with the Tascam?

Re: Opinions on the Project IO?
It would have to be set up as three HUIs, which if I remember right is possible, because Pro Tools doesn't support anything else that isn't made by Digidesign or M-Audio. The HUI itself is very clever, but the HUI protocol isn't ideal for boxes like that. But you'd get 24 faders and a couple of other buttons. Also note that the 002 control surface only works with Pro Tools LE, while other controllers including the M-Audio one work with everything.

I'm not sure what 3 HUI is but I know the Tascam has HUI capability.I like the Digidesign Control 24 but it's really expensive. I've examined and rejected the Project Studio IO. I'm considering an 002 Control Surface. I'm also thinking of combining an 002 Rack with another controller.Your recommendation?

Re: Opinions on the Project IO?
My recommendation is not to combine controllers, because you'll get tired of the kludgey aspect of it all.HUI is a control surface that came out about 10 years ago for controlling Pro Tools (mainly). The Tascam is a decent unit, but be aware that it doesn't have electronic scribble strips, i.e. it doesn't tell you what each fader is.I like the 002 a lot. The control surface is really cleverly designed. The Tascam is if you want lots of faders.Do you mean the Project Mix IO? I haven't even seen it. What do you not like about it?

http://www.mackie.com/products/mcu/index.htmlThat's another one to look at. It's expandable.

Re: Opinions on the Project IO?
I meant the Project Mix IO, right. I didn't like the feel of it. It seemed poorly constructed, flimsy. I'm sure it works (from what I've read) but seemed like a toy compared to the solid construction of the Digi002.I wasn't thinking of combining controllers. I meant using the 002 rack as the audio interface and a control surface like the Tascam.I really respect Mackie products and have always done well with them. I love the expandable feature that other companies don't seem to do. The price of the Mackie is reasonable for 8 tracks but if expanded to 24 would be 3 times higher than the Tascam.Actually, the 8 track Mackie plus the 002 rack would cost about the same as the Digi002 Control Surface. In that case, I'd prefer having one product rather than two.Do you agree with my logic? And don't let me neglect to thank you for your time and attention.Nomi

De nada, and I agree. I found the 002 control surface very impressive.
